Tottenham Hotspur’s reported interest in a new goalkeeper has sparked a strong reaction among supporters, with many questioning the club’s direction ahead of the summer window.
Tottenham Hotspur could very well be shopping in the goalkeeper market this summer transfer window, given the speculation surrounding Guglielmo Vicario’s future.
Vicario is understood to have given the green light to a contract offer from Inter Milan, who remain very keen on signing the Spurs number one this summer.
Should the Italian depart, Tottenham would need to secure a replacement, as Antonin Kinsky and Brandon Austin stand as backup to the 29-year-old.
Fresh reports have now linked Tottenham with a move for a new goalkeeper who is set to be a free agent this summer.
It is understood that Spurs have shown interest in Leeds United goalkeeper Karl Darlow as they look to add a homegrown option to their ranks.
Darlow has featured for fellow relegation rivals Leeds 16 times this season in the Premier League and has conceded 20 goals.

Tottenham fans who have caught wind of the latest report have now shared their reaction, with many left shocked by the development.
Taking to social media, supporters voiced their concerns over the reported link, with one fan questioning the club’s finances, saying: “Are we lowkey just broke?” Another added: “Nice to see we’re preparing for the champ”.
A third supporter reacted sarcastically, stating: “our first choice goalie is sorted for next season”. Further comments continued in a similar tone, with one fan saying: “The amount of preparation Vinai and Lange have put into getting the team ready for next season in the championship is incredible”.
Another added: “Wait until you see our ambition in the summer guys”, while one supporter wrote: “These proposed signings and links so far are proper lower half of the PL type. Looks like we’re preparing for another relegation battle if we stay up by a miracle”.
Another comment read: “We are being linked to championship names. They have already settled for it. Nice.” A final fan pointed out: “Brandon Austin is classed as Home Grown so this makes no sense”.
Spurs transfer plans questioned as Karl Darlow link raises doubts
There has been talk of ambition from the Tottenham hierarchy ahead of this summer, but this recent link reeks of anything but, and the fans have every right to be concerned.
Tottenham have already been strongly linked with signing Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi as free agents – if they avoid relegation.
Darlow certainly is not what is needed at Tottenham if they are to bolster their goalkeeping ranks ahead of next season.
A more established name in their prime years will be far preferable to going for a goalkeeper being shipped off by Leeds United.
