The Swiss were then reduced to 10 men when Breel Embolo was given a second yellow card, but they defended valiantly to force extra time before Julian Alvarez and Lautaro Martinez scored to send Argentina through to face Djed Spence’s England.
Pedro Porro’s Spain will face France in the other semi-final on Tuesday (8pm UK).
