Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have enjoyed busy starts to the summer transfer window with several marquee signings already through the doors across north London.
The Gunners have, largely, kept their shopping close to home. Kepa Arrizabalaga has arrived from Chelsea for £5 million and Noni Madueke is also expected to arrive from Stamford Bridge in the coming days.
Those two first team stars face an easy transition, having already called London home. For former Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi, the move to the capital is a bigger deal as he looks to settle down in the city. Sporting CP bagsman Viktor Gyokeres and Valencia centre-back Cristhian Mosquera could join Zubimendi in the hunt for London property should they, as expected, also seal transfers to Arsenal.
Tottenham Hotspur have bolstered their attacking options with the purchase of Mohammed Kudus from West Ham. The Ghana international is another already living in the capital but Mathys Tel may be in the property market with his loan move from Bayern Munich made permanent and Spurs hold interest in Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White.
London property hotspot could attract Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur stars
Those Premier League players are on big salaries and the high end properties currently on the market could be of interest. For Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur stars, one hotspot area that has always been sought after is Hampstead.
According to the HM Land Registry of September 2022, homes in Hampstead sell for a staggering average of £1,670,000. That’s a drop in the ocean for Spurs and Gunners players, but goes to show the type of buyer the area attracts.
Ex-Gunners man Patrick Vieira bought a home in the area by the Heath for £3 million in 2001 before demolishing it and putting up a four-storey property when he uncovered a damp problem. Thierry Henry, Olivier Giroud and David Ospina are some other stars known to have resided in the area.
Hampstead well frequented by Premier League stars
Arsenal players investing in the area should be warned that they may bump into a rival when picking up their weekly shop. Tottenham Hotspur stars, including Moussa Dembele and Jan Vertonghen have also called the area home.
Hampstead did once cultivate a community of French players with Henry and Giroud joined by Hugo Lloris. Speaking about the area while at Spurs, Vertonghen said: “It’s funny. A lot of players live there [in Hampstead] so sometimes you see them. But we live in peace.”
Speaking in 2015, Robert Kramer of Glentree Estates, who has dealt with many re-locating footballers over the years, told Ham and High: “It’s equidistant between their training ground and the stadium. They like the proximity to London and the Heath. A lot of them like Hampstead because it’s very cosmopolitan and several of them have kids so they love the excellent schools in the area. For the older ones it’s always the schools.”
