TBR Football can exclusively reveal that Aston Villa star Boubacar Kamara attracted the interest of Arsenal and Tottenham this summer, but now the player is firmly staying put at Villa Park.
It’s been a quiet summer at Aston Villa thus far, with Unai Emery seemingly biding his time in the transfer market.
Villa have signed Marco Bizot, and Emery has also swooped for several wonderkids, with the latest looking like Jaydee Canvot linking up with the Villans.
But perhaps Villa’s biggest wins this summer will come not from new arrivals, but from the key players they’ve managed to keep, with Boubacar Kamara chief among them.
Exclusive: Tottenham and Arsenal wanted Boubacar Kamara of Aston Villa
TBR Football can exclusively reveal through chief correspondent Graeme Bailey that Tottenham and Arsenal were both interested in purchasing Kamara this summer.
Bailey said: “On Boubacar Kamara – I’m told he was firmly on Arsenal’s long list of midfield targets this summer. Tottenham also really liked him and made an enquiry, but it quickly became clear he wouldn’t be leaving Aston Villa.
“One interesting note: PSG were said to be very impressed with Kamara during their Champions League meetings with Villa, and they’re now expected to keep tabs on him going forward.”
The Frenchman has been very impressive since he got to Villa Park – and that’s why it’s no surprise that Emery locked down a new contract for the 25-year-old.
Boubacar Kamara signed new Aston Villa contract
TBR Football confirmed in April that Aston Villa began contract talks with Kamara. On Thursday evening, the French international signed a new long-term deal until 2030 with Aston Villa.
Speaking from the club’s pre-season trip to the USA, Kamara revealed he was “very happy” to be staying at Villa.
“I am very happy for this new contract,” he told VillaTV. “I can’t wait to come back to Villa Park.”
He added: “It was very easy, I like to be here. My family enjoy it in Birmingham, and I like the team and the manager – the decision was easy.”
Kamara will be a player that continues to attract interest from Europe’s top clubs, but for the time being, he remains firmly a Villan.
