Arsenal are plotting a sensational move to sign a Tottenham star this summer to pounce on their ongoing troubles on the pitch, according to Caught Offside.

The Gunners have had a fine season and are sitting top of the Premier League table, and are also in the Champions League semi-finals, while rivals Spurs have had a horror campaign, and currently sit in the relegation zone with five games remaining following their 2-2 draw with Brighton on Saturday.

That has led to big speculation that a number of first-team stars could be on the move away from Tottenham during the summer transfer window, and it has now emerged that Mikel Arteta's side are ready to make a shock move to keep one of them in north London.

Arsenal Plot £50m Move to Sign Lucas Bergvall

According to a report, Arsenal are ready to table a £50m bid to complete a shock move to sign Tottenham star Lucas Bergvall this summer.

Bergvall, who has been described as 'unstoppable', has developed rapidly since moving to Spurs, and his development saw him earn a new long-term contract recently, tying him to the side until 2031. However, their recent performances on the pitch could see them drop down to the second tier, and has put a number of clubs on alert over his situation.

One of those is Arsenal, who are prepared to make a 'creative offer' to bring the 20-year-old Sweden international across north London to the Emirates Stadium for Arteta.

Spurs want to keep the player at all costs, and certainly wouldn't want to lose him to local rivals Arsenal, but a £50m fee has been mooted as potentially being enough, and the Gunners would reportedly be ready to pay that sum to add him to their squad.

Arsenal Could Make Stunning Bergvall Swoop

The last time Arsenal signed someone from Tottenham, Sol Campbell arrived and he went down as a club legend, helping them go Invincible in the Premier League and even scoring in their only Champions League final appearance.

Bergvall would bring some technical excellence to the midfield department, and with Arsenal likely to look at strengthening that position this summer, this could be a deal that shakes the Premier League and greatly boosts them.

Whether the player would be open to the move remains to be seen, but taking the rivalry aside, it would certainly be a deal that makes sense for both Arsenal and Bergvall, and could be a very interesting one to watch in the coming months.
