THE Premier League have MOVED the date for Aston Villa's clash with Tottenham.

The match was initially set to take place at Villa Park a week on Sunday.

Spurs raised concerns over the scheduling of the game due to their potential participation in the Europa League final a few days later.

The North Londoners officially requested that the Premier League bring the match forward to Thursday, May 15.

Villa, however, vehemently objected to the request.

But Prem chiefs have granted Spurs' wish and moved the match forward to Friday, May 16.

Aston Villa revealed the change in a short statement on their website.

The rearranging of the fixture means that Ange Postecoglou's side will now have five full days to prepare for the final, should they make it, instead of two.

Spurs have a good chance of reaching their second European final in six years as they lead their semi-final tie with Bodo/Glimt 3-1 on aggregate after the first leg.

They'll look to finish the job in the return leg in Norway on Thursday night.

And as it stands, it looks like they'll be playing familiar opposition in the final, which takes place in Bilbao.

Spurs' Prem rivals Manchester United currently lead Athletic Bilbao 3-0 in their respective semi-final tie.

Should it be an all-English final in San Mames, both teams will have the same amount of time to prepare for the Bilbao bust-up.

That's as Utd play on the same night - though their kick-off time at Chelsea has also changed.

Originally Ruben Amorim's side were scheduled to start at 8pm, but that has been delayed 15 minutes to allow fans to watch a whole half of Tottenham without interruption.
