Atletico Madrid are alive to the possibility that Tottenham Hotspur may test their resolve to hold a midfielder by submitting a late offer.

According to some reports, Tottenham are on the lookout for another centre-back and a winger before Monday’s transfer deadline.

A couple of days ago, journalist Greame Bailey also suggested that Spurs may make a move for an England international midfielder.

Bailey claimed that Tottenham could make an offer for Conor Gallagher as a replacement for Yves Bissouma, but explained that the former Chelsea man is also wanted by several other clubs.

Atletico Madrid alert to late Tottenham offer for Conor Gallagher

A report in the print edition of Marca (as relayed by Sport Witness) has now claimed that Tottenham are ‘stalking’ the Atletico star, whose future at the Spanish capital is in doubt.

The report says that Rojiblancos consider their business finished this window is, but the only one who could be sold is Gallaagher.

Atletico are aware that the 25-year-old is on the radar of several Premier League sides, but they have not received any offer for the midfielder so far.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The outlet asserts that Tottenham Hotspur are one of the ‘most interested’ clubs, and the La Liga giants remain open to the possibility of a late offer from the North London side.

Spurs would have to spend big to land Gallagher

However, Marca make it clear that Atletico are not desperate to cash in on Gallagher in the final days of the transfer window.

Should a sufficiently large offer not arrive, they would be happy to retain the services of the former Chelsea man.

It is alleged that it would take an offer of around €50-€60m (£43.2-£52m) for Diego Simeone’s men to cash in on Gallagher, who they signed just 12 months ago.
