Manchester United and Liverpool are reportedly both keen on raiding Tottenham this summer, and GIVEMESPORT correspondent Ben Jacobs has confirmed who is likely to win the race.

There could be a fire sale at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the summer window, regardless of how their season ends in the coming weeks.

Relegation will likely see a host of key stars want to head through the exit door, but they could depart even if they remain in the Premier League.

Tottenham won't be competing in any European competitions next season, something which has made them an attractive prospect over the last few years.

Man Utd and Liverpool in Tottenham Battle

Speaking on The United Stand, GIVEMESPORT correspondent Jacobs has confirmed that both Liverpool and United hold an interest in signing Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven.

“He is someone Man Utd are keeping an eye on. There has been no approach to Spurs, and as of now, there has been zero approach to the player side from Manchester United. Liverpool are also in the market for another defender as well. Liverpool, like Man Utd, it’s more an internal conversation but the bad news for Man United on Micky van de Ven is if, and it is an ‘if’, Liverpool enter the race, Van de Ven is only making one decision between Liverpool and Manchester United, and he is picking Liverpool."

It's a blow for United in their potential pursuit of van de Van, but neither club seem too seriously interested as it stands.

Whether that changes if Spurs are relegated from the Premier League, remains to be seen.

Van de Ven in Strong Situation

Having two clubs in Liverpool and United showing an interest in you is a positive sign for van de Ven, described as 'world-class' by former midfielder Jamie O'Hara, heading into the summer transfer window.

Both sides are likely to be competing in the Champions League next season, which means the Dutch defender can take a step up even if they are relegated from the Premier League.

Staying at Tottenham does feel unlikely for van de Ven, especially if a side competing in the Champions League comes in for him.

The towering centre-back will have had a taste for it after playing in the competition this season, and Spurs aren't going to be playing in Europe at all next term.
