Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen has been linked with a move away from the club in recent months.

The 33-year-old goalkeeper has fallen down the pecking order at the Spanish club, and he’s no longer the first choice for them.

According to Football Insider, he could be shown the door in the coming months. However, an exit in January seems unlikely. Perhaps a move in the summer is more feasible. The report further claims that Tottenham are keen on the experienced German goalkeeper.

Barcelona to sell Marc-Andre ter Stegen

Pete O’Rourke said: “It’ll be interesting to see what happens in the summer if Ter Stegen continues to find himself out of favour at Barcelona. I’m sure Barcelona would prefer to probably sell him rather than potentially loan him, just to help with their financial situation and obviously get his wages off the wage list at the club.”

The fact that Barcelona are willing to get rid of him will come as a huge boost for the north London outfit. They need more quality and depth in the goalkeeping department and could compete with Guglielmo Vicario for the starting spot. The Italian can be quite inconsistent, and he has struggled when it comes to dealing with aerial balls.

Ter Stegen would be a superb addition

The German goalkeeper has proven himself at Barcelona over the years, and he is certainly one of the finest goalkeepers in Europe. He possesses the necessary qualities and experience to help him improve. He has won several major trophies during his club career, and his winning experience could prove to be invaluable as well.

The 33-year-old could be available for a reasonable amount of money, and Spurs would do well to secure his signature. He has been labelled as an “unbelievable” goalkeeper in the past, and it will be interesting to see if he can adapt to the Premier League quickly and make an instant impact.
