The Premier League and Barclays are teaming up to celebrate the people across the country that are making a positive difference to their local communities.

Now in its second year, the Barclays Community Icon of the Month award highlights the many participants, coaches and volunteers who use Premier League-funded community programmes to support, mentor and inspire others.

Clubs have been asked to nominate standout individuals that go above and beyond and each month, one winner of the award will be showcased through a video that tells their story.

Here are the winners for the 2026/27 season so far...

October: Myri, Tottenham Hotspur

For the last 13 years, Myri has worked for Tottenham Hotspur's official charity, Spurs in the Community, as a programme co-ordinator for Premier League Inspires.

The personal development programme uses the power of football to inspire young people, predominantly in secondary schools and pupil referral units, who are at risk of exclusion or disengaging with education to give them social, employability and life skills as well as positive attitudes.

It has been a natural progression for Myri, who started out as a teacher and saw for himself the impact that Premier League programmes and coaches had on his pupils.

While at Spurs, Myri has helped developed confidence, wellbeing and trust in his participants and has shaped Premier League Inspires resources based around their needs. He has also shared his approach with coaches, schools and other football club charities to help maximise the impact of the programme.

"I missed about 80 per cent of my primary school," he says. "I was far behind. I always thought I was different to everyone else. I want to give back to the students and make them not have that experience I did."

Earlier this year, Myri joined local students to celebrate a significant milestone with 1,000 young people now reached through delivery of Premier League Inspires with Spurs in the Community.

"He makes everyone feel heard, he encourages people to be themselves," says Premier League Inspires participant Hana. "I had very little confidence but I think I am able to do so many more things because of the skills that I built at Spurs in the Community."
