Despite holding continuous talks, Bayern Munich and Leroy Sane have not reached any agreement for a future extension. He has turned down the initial offer worth €10 million plus €5 million in bonuses. If this dispute continues further, Bayern could lose out on Sane. The 29-year-old's contract will end in June this year, which is set to make him one of the most sought-after free agents on the market. Sane's representative, Pini Zahavi, has reportedly offered his availability to many top clubs, according to Sky Sports.

According to The Times in the UK, Arsenal has decided to enter the race. The North London team has made several inquiries about Leroy Sane. Head coach Mikel Arteta has worked with the German international before during his tenure as an assistant manager at Manchester City and is open to a reunion. The Gunners have also made a clear intention to bring in a new left-winger to complement Bukayo Saka due to the inconsistency of Gabriel Martinelli. Sane and Arteta's experiences of working together could make this move highly feasible.

Arsenal's arch-rival and lousy neighbor, Tottenham Hotspur, also emerged as one of the frontrunners for Sane's signature had he decided to depart from the Allianz Arena. The reigning Europa League champion has had a great relationship with Bayern Munich in recent years. Leroy Sane could potentially be another player that ties the bond between the two clubs.

Bayern working hard for the extension, but also preparing for the potential departure

Leroy Sane had 13 goals and 5 assists in all competitions last season, including 11 goals in the Bundesliga - his personal record in the league.

Bayern Munich's director of sport Max Eberl had held a decisive conversation with Pini Zahavi in Munich in the past few days. Both sides share a mutual interest to extend Sane's time at the club. Sane himself is also keen to stay. However, no progress has been made yet. Future talks between both parties have also been planned.

These long-drawn contract talks could mean Bayern letting their number 10 find a new home next season. Multiple high-profile players have been discussed as potential new left-wingers. Brighton's Kaoru Mitoma, Liverpool's Cody Gakpo, and AC Milan's Rafael Leao are high on Die Roten's shopping list. All of them could require a relatively hefty price tag around nine figures. Meanwhile, one of the club's winger targets, Olympique Marseille's Luis Henrique, is closing on a move to Inter Milan.
