Bayern Munich’s financial demands scupper transfer deal as Spurs man’s fitness is questioned

One of the possible many positives of appointing Thomas Frank at Tottenham, one might be pulling the trigger on one or two players who still remain in the ‘Where are they now?’ file. Good works have been done, shifting Sergio Reguilon, Fraser Forster and Alfie Whiteman who have all now left Spurs after their contracts expired.

One name continues to lurk in the shadows at Hotspur Way, and his name is Bryan Gil. The Spanish winger, despite once having his own personal chef, he failed to bulk up and get anywhere near Premier League levels.

Gil’s time ‘at Spurs’ has consisted of multiple loan spells, including Valencia, Sevilla, and most recently Girona, where he showed some hint of promise with three goals and three assists. This was before a season-ending knee injury requiring surgery, last term. If we are honest with ourselves, it’s been an out-and-out disaster.

Meanwhile, Bryan Zaragoza, the Bayern Munich winger, has been in talks with Barcelona and Celta Vigo, neither of whom are flush with cash.

Celta Vigo had proposed a deal to sign Zaragoza on €2 million with a mandatory purchase clause of around €12-15 million, which has now stalled, (of course).

According to Mundo Deportivo, Gil has ‘offered himself’ to Celta Vigo, on the threat of being available on free in January. Is the lad a serious alternative? It feels all too little too late.

Yes, it is messy, and worse yet, Gil needs to demonstrate that he’s physically able to feature for anyone, at this stage.

Tottenham need to wash their face, yet again, and get yet another boy out the door.
