Brentford striker Yoane Wissa has left their pre-season training camp amid uncertainty over his future, with Newcastle and Tottenham Hotspur accelerating their interest, according to BBC journalist Sami Mokbel.

The DR Congo international has been heavily linked with a move away from the Gtech Community Stadium this summer, after a fantastic Premier League campaign in 2024/25 saw him score 19 goals in 35 games.

But the west London club aren't keen to let him leave having already lost Thomas Frank to Tottenham, Christian Norgaard to Arsenal and Bryan Mbeumo to Manchester United, leaving Wissa's future up in the air as a result.

Newcastle accelerating interest

Wissa, who has reportedly been valued in excess of £50m as a result of the club's wishes not to sell, has now had his head turned by the interest in him and is set to hold talks over his future with director of football Phil Giles.

Nottingham Forest have already had a bid rejected earlier in the window, while Newcastle have stepped up their interest in recent days after missing out on Hugo Ekitike, who is set to join Liverpool.

Reports suggest that he has already agreed personal terms with the Magpies, but a move to Tottenham is also still on the cards as Frank eyes a reunion with his former striker - and it's believed that the 28-year-old would prefer to link up with his former manager rather than move to St James' Park.

Personal terms are not expected to be an issue with Spurs, and with Nottingham Forest also able to offer European football in the 2025/26 season, Wissa would also be open to joining them.

The player is currently unsettled and Brentford are hopeful that after holding talks with him, they will be able to reintegrate him into their squad once they return to London from Portugal. However, until the talks happen his future remains up in the air.
