The pair forged a close bond following Ben's move to Spurs in 2014.
One of the all-time greats for club and country, Cliff was capped 59 times - scoring 16 goals - and was part of the Wales team that reached the quarter-finals of the 1958 World Cup in Sweden, where they were knocked out by Pele's Brazil.
Here at Spurs, Cliff scored 159 goals in 358 games in all competitions between 1958-1968. He was a key member of Bill Nicholson's side that clinched the double of the First Division championship and FA Cup in 1960/61, reached the semi-finals of the European Cup and retained the FA Cup in 1961/62 and then made history by becoming the first British side to win a European trophy with our European Cup Winners' Cup triumph in 1963 - he scored in the final, a 5-1 demolition of Atletico Madrid. He won his third FA Cup in 1967.
Ben, who signed a new deal this week and will soon prepare for his 13th season in Lilywhite, said: "It is fantastic that Cliff Jones is being recognised for his incredible contribution to both club and international football.
"He is recognised as one of the true greats of the game at both Swansea and Tottenham and of course with Wales whom he represented at the 1958 World Cup.
"I was lucky enough to meet him when I first arrived at Spurs, where I forged a close bond with him and his wife (Joan), who often had me round to the house, and I’d hear amazing stories about his life and football career. To have him present me with my 100th cap was an absolute honour.
"I am so proud that he has been recognised with an MBE. Congratulations. Llongyfarchiadau."
