Everton will be keen to get going again in the summer transfer window having only signed Carlos Alcaraz to a permanent deal.
The 2025 summer transfer window may still only be young, but Everton know they have an awful lot of work to complete.
Given the Toffees have seen so many players part ways as their contracts come to an end, it is going to need to be a productive summer for the Friedkins.
David Moyes wants to see a new winger signed and that has been a burning desire since he returned to Merseyside in January.
There have already been a number of names linked with a move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, but the Blues are yet to bring in any new faces.
Everton are keen on Jack Grealish but there are a number of obstacles standing in their way.
However, Moyes may have now seen their path to the Manchester City man open up slightly.
Tottenham Hotspur hand Everton Jack Grealish advantage
Arsenal have pulled out of the running for Grealish as the Toffees eye a move this summer for the Englishman.
MORE EVERTON STORIES
But the Friedkins still face financial mountains and competition from some of England’s other top sides.
According to The Telegraph, Tottenham have followed their north London rivals in ending their pursuit of Grealish.
This will come as a welcome boost for the Blues who are now seeing some of their rivals for the 29-year-old’s signature quickly fall out of the running.
It is claimed City are optimistic clubs will make a move to sign the winger permanently, but Everton will be looking to sign Grealish on loan.
The Toffees could offer the forward an opportunity to remain in the north west of England where he has lived for a number of years now.
And Everton are hoping their new stadium can attract big-name players like Grealish who will want to play on the big stage.
Everton could land first big-name signing under the Friedkins
Since the Friedkins took over back in December, it has certainly been a cautious approach to the transfer windows.
The Friedkins are backing Everton this summer financially, but they held off any major signings in January to help their cause against PSR.
But that has left the Toffees with a serious amount of work to do this summer as they need to add quality and quantity to their squad.
Adding a player like Grealish would be a real statement from the club and could open more doors in the market.
It feels like the Friedkins need to land their first big-name signing for Everton to potentially show other players it is a club on the up.
