There has been a big development regarding Morgan Gibbs-White at Nottingham Forest as his proposed move to Tottenham Hotspur seemingly hangs in the balance.

Gibbs-White had a medical booked at Hotspur Way last Friday after Tottenham Hotspur triggered the midfielder’s £60m release clause.

However, the transfer, which appeared to be in its final stages, has ground to a halt due to some unusual developments. Nottingham Forest complained to the Premier League that Spurs had illegally approached Gibbs-White without their permission.

The accusation of “tapping-up” is certainly not something that football fans have heard for a long time and it is unclear what the Midlands side’s main complaint is.

According to some reports, Forest are fuming that the details of Gibbs-White’s confidential release clause were leaked, but it seems that they can do little more than merely hold up the deal for a few days.

Gibbs-White is back in pre-season training at Nottingham Forest

Many spotted last week that Gibbs-White was not training with the Forest squad, but it was later confirmed that the England international was not due back until this week, given his involvement in the World Cup qualifiers last month.

All eyes were thus on the Forest training ground this morning to see if the midfielder was back and it turns out that Gibbs-White did indeed report back as expected.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Journalist Tom Barclay has confirmed that the England midfielder showed up for training this morning, and the Midlands club’s social media account also provided pictorial evidence of the former Wolves man arriving.

Morgan Gibbs-White is expected to become a Tottenham player

Various outlets have claimed that Gibbs-White’s move to Tottenham is still on course to go through despite Forest’s attempts to stop it.

The accusation of an illegal approach from Forest is said to be a temporary disruption rather than a deal-breaker, with things being firmly weighted in favour of Spurs.
