Tottenham Hotspur are keeping tabs on the Leicester City midfielder Bilal El Khannouss.
According to GMS, they could now enter the race to sign the 21-year-old playmaker, and the report claims that the midfielder is now considering an eleventh-hour U-turn, and he could snub a move to Crystal Palace to join Tottenham.
Bilal El Khannouss could change his mind
The midfielder was initially considering a move to the Eagles, but he could change his mind now. It is a similar situation to the one Tottenham faced in their pursuit of Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace. The 27-year-old was expected to join Spurs, but he made a late U-turn and joined Arsenal instead.
Tottenham need more creativity and cutting edge in the final third, and the 21-year-old would be a super acquisition. The technically gifted midfielder is capable of operating in the number ten role as well as on the flanks. He will help create opportunities for his teammates and find the back of the net as well. James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski are sidelined with injuries, and Tottenham need alternatives. They need someone who can create opportunities and open up deep defences.
Spurs move could be ideal for El Khannouss
The Leicester City midfielder will be attracted to the idea of joining Tottenham. It would be a major step up for him, and he would get to compete in the Premier League. Tottenham will be able to offer him Champions League football as well. It is no surprise that he is attracted to the idea of joining them instead of Crystal Palace. The Eagles have an exciting project as well, and they will be competing in Europe this season. However, Tottenham have a more ambitious project and a better team.
The development will certainly come as a blow for the Eagles, and it remains to be seen whether Tottenham can get the deal done.
