Brentford are having a difficult summer following Thomas Frank’s move to Tottenham.

Frank, who was in charge of Brentford for seven and a half years, is yet to be replaced at the Gtech Community Stadium.

The Bees are also ruing the loss of staff members, including highly-rated coach Justin Cochrane, who also made the move to Tottenham.

As well as Frank and Cochrane, Brentford look set to lose Bryan Mbeumo, and it appears as though the Cameroonian isn’t the only player moving away from West London this summer.

Christian Nørgaard set for Arsenal medical

Frank’s association with his old club meant there was always going to be talk of Brentford players joining Tottenham, with Nathan Collins linked amid exit rumours about Cristian Romero.

MORE SPURS STORIES

However, the byproduct of Frank leaving seems to be extending beyond Tottenham, with the Bees now facing a potential exodus ahead of the 2025/26 season.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano via X (26 June), Christian Nørgaard looks set to leave Brentford as the midfielder has been authorised to undergo a medical at Arsenal.

The 31-year-old followed Frank to West London after working with him at Brøndby and has been an integral part of the Brentford setup, having made almost 200 appearances in his six years at the club.

He was one of his compatriots’ trusted generals in the centre of the park, and is unlikely to have left had Frank remained in his post.

The player exodus that Brentford are facing will leave them furious at Tottenham for the impact their poaching of their manager continues to have. As a result, it could make any further business between the two clubs much more difficult.

Tottenham also need a defensive midfielder

It is somewhat of a surprise that Frank has not moved to bring Nørgaard to Tottenham, given Spurs’ need for a defensive midfielder.

The former Brøndby manager is said to be a huge fan of Archie Gray. Therefore, he could promote the England Under-21 international to a starting position in the side.

Nevertheless, with Yves Bissouma and Rodrigo Bentancur entering the final year of their contracts, Spurs require at least one more central midfielder, especially one who is defensively orientated, as none of Tottenham’s current crop of players has consistently shown they are suited to the holding midfield role.
