Whilst Manchester United look set to be busy in their recruitment this summer, the club may face challenges from outfits such as Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur in the upcoming transfer window.

Competition from Chelsea has previously been present in United’s interest in Tyler Adams with both the Blues and Liverpool joining the race for the Bournemouth midfielder earlier this year.

Manchester United’s interest in Oh Hyeon-gyu was also met with interest from Tottenham Hotspur with both clubs monitoring the Bestikas player ahead of the window.

The three clubs have arguably had contrasting seasons, however, with United having a major second half of the season which has seen the club rise to third in the Premier League currently.

Chelsea, however, have slipped down the table whilst United have rose and now are at risk of not qualifying for any European competition at all.

Tottenham Hotspur have had the worst season of the three clubs by far, though, with Spurs sitting just one point above the relegation zone currently.

In a bid to improve squads, both Chelsea and Tottenham have now joined the race for Sporting CP left wing-back Maxi Araujo according to AS.

The 26-year-old have helped Sporting in their pursuit of European qualification for next season with four goals and three assists.

These performances have attracted the interest of Arsenal who were in talks with the defender surrounding a possible move.

Sporting have also set a pricetag of €50 million for Maxi Araujo, helping to guide interested clubs in their planning.

With four Premier League clubs interested, alongside others, it is looking increasingly likely that several clubs may battle for the defender’s signature in the upcoming window.

Focus will now switch towards these clubs to see who makes the next move and whether this move will be crucial in dictating where the defender ends up following the summer transfer window.
