Tottenham Hotspur could be persuaded to sell an electric player this summer, according to GIVEMESPORT senior correspondent Ben Jacobs.
Tottenham have completely transformed their defence during the summer transfer window, and it was needed after the club conceded 183 goals across the previous three Premier League seasons, at an average of 61 per campaign.
That record is nowhere near good enough if Spurs want to be challenging at the right end of the Premier League table, and it was the area they targeted first in terms of strengthening.
Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi have arrived on free transfers and bring a wealth of English top flight experience with them, while Jan Paul van Hecke has also moved to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium from Brighton and Hove Albion.
Meanwhile, another experienced Premier League player in Martin Dubravka has also joined for free to provide competition for Antonin Kinsky between the sticks.
Radu Dragusin has already left the club, but it would be no surprise to see other defenders leave before the September 1 deadline given the increased competition for places.
Captain Cristian Romero is expected to go with his centre-back partner Micky van de Ven deemed 'untouchable', according to Fabrizio Romano, while Robertson, Souza, Ben Davies and Djed Spence can all play at left-back.
Jacobs: Djed Spence Potentially Up for Sale at Tottenham
Spence is one of the defenders who could be on his way from north London in the coming weeks, despite the fact he has had an outstanding World Cup with England.
The 25-year-old came under fire from some for his defensive actions at times, but he was outstanding in the 2-1 semi-final defeat to Argentina, both in attack and at the back.
Still, the Englishman could find himself as back-up to Pedro Porro and Robertson in the full-back positions back at Tottenham, which is likely to lead to conversations over his future.
Speaking on the latest episode of GMS' Market Madness podcast, Jacobs says Spurs could be tempted to sell him as interest grows:
He said: "Djed Spence is potentially for sale, so don't be surprised if that's sanctioned. It sounds strange because he's been great at the World Cup.
"It'll all be about Roberto De Zerbi and Spence having a conversation after the World Cup, but Inter Milan are one of the very interested parties in Djed Spence, and there could be a scenario where Tottenham are persuaded to sell."
He's Agreed to Join: Tottenham to Accelerate Savinho Move
Tottenham are said to have decided on Manchester City winger Savinho as their top attacking target, and they are now ready to accelerate a move for a player they also wanted to land last summer.
The Brazilian is keen to make the move to the English capital to link up with De Zerbi for more regular minutes, with his first-team appearances limited at the Etihad last term.
Now, Spurs must find an agreement on a fee with City, who are likely to demand big money for the winger who Pep Guardiola always spoke glowingly about.
