Stamford Bridge Pushes Ahead in Garnacho Race
Chelsea’s pursuit of Alejandro Garnacho has shifted into top gear, with TBR Football reporting that the Blues remain frontrunners for the 21-year-old winger. Enzo Maresca has made Garnacho a priority signing this summer as the Stamford Bridge rebuild continues to gather pace. Since January, Chelsea have been tracking the Argentina international closely, and with Manchester United willing to do business, the window of opportunity has widened.
“Garnacho is determined to leave Old Trafford, we know that, and Chelsea appeal, but I am told he has not discounted other options,” Graeme Bailey told TBR Football. “A move to Stamford Bridge does (stand out to him). Spurs and Villa like him, but Chelsea have done a lot of work so far.”
That groundwork could prove decisive. Chelsea’s interest hasn’t wavered, even with ambitious plans elsewhere, including the ongoing negotiations for Xavi Simons and a speculative attempt to prise Morgan Rogers away from Aston Villa.

From a Chelsea perspective, this feels like a genuine moment of ambition. The club has spent the past few windows recruiting with an eye on youth and versatility, but Garnacho is a player with real edge and proven Premier League pedigree. He may only be 21, but his ceiling is huge.
The fact that TBR Football reports Chelsea have already “done a lot of work” on this deal shows the new regime isn’t just chasing hype. Garnacho could be the missing spark on the left, especially with the right being locked down by Cole Palmer.
Bringing in Xavi Simons as well? That’s the stuff of dreams. It suggests a long-term project that actually has a footballing identity behind it. Simons would bring the creativity through the middle, with Garnacho stretching defences on the flank.
The only concern might be squad balance and whether Joao Pedro gets lost in the shuffle, but those are good problems to have. Add in the uncertainty surrounding Tottenham’s transition and Villa’s European distractions, and this feels like Chelsea’s race to lose.
