Chelsea are pushing to hijack Tottenham’s move to sign West Ham forward Mohammed Kudus this summer, journalist Simon Phillips has revealed.

The Blues are reportedly working to secure Kudus ahead of their Premier League rivals, who have already held direct talks with the Ghana international over a potential move.

West Ham rebuffed Chelsea’s £50m offer for Kudus last week, and the West London club have been working on a solution since, including offering players in exchange.

While a swap deal is not currently anticipated, Chelsea could reportedly make a separate player sale to West Ham this window, which could effectively form part of any move to bring Kudus.

Ahead of Premier League rivals Tottenham

According to Phillips, Kudus has no shortage of suitors amid growing uncertainty over his future at West Ham, with at least three Premier League clubs believed to be showing interest.

Chelsea and Tottenham could soon be joined in the race by Newcastle, while clubs in the Saudi Pro League, who have previously shown interest, are also monitoring the situation.

West Ham are believed to be open to selling Kudus this summer to support Graham Potter’s rebuild and could accept a deal worth around £60m.

GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Kudus scored five goals and provided three assists in 32 Premier League appearances last season.

Chelsea have already spent significantly on attacking signings this summer, bringing in Joao Pedro and Liam Delap for a combined £90m.

The Blues are also close to finalising a deal for Borussia Dortmund starlet Jamie Gittens, who will cost £48.5m plus £3.5m in add-ons.
