The latest reports coming out of Argentina have denied reports of Tottenham accepting an offer for Alejo Veliz but they do confirm that it is only a matter of time before a bid arrives in North London for the player.
Until recent weeks, there was plenty of speculation linking Veliz with a return to Rosaria Central, who sold the striker to Tottenham Hotspur two years ago.
However, earlier this week, it was revealed Spurs had accepted a $5m (£3.6m) offer for 60 per cent of Veliz’s rights.
It was alleged that the offer came not from Rosario, but from their rivals Racing Club de Avellaneda, and that the deal will see Spurs retain a 40 per cent sell-on clause on the 21-year-old.
Alejo Veliz offer denied but Racing Club de Avellaneda want him
According to a report in Ole (as relayed by Sport Witness), Racing have denied sending an offer to Spurs for the young centre-forward.
The outlet confirms that Veliz is indeed on Racing’s radar as the club’s manager, Gustavo Costas, requested the signing of the Tottenham man as a replacement for Maxi Salas, who is expected to leave.
While Racing deny making an offer, they do plan to initiate contact with the Europa League winners regarding the Argentina U21 international.

Racing could make a big financial push for Veliz
Sport Witness also relayed another report from Racing de Alma, who are even more confident that Racing will push ahead with a move for the Argentine youngster.
The report says that the Primera Division’s side move for Veliz is now ‘gaining momentum’ and they now plan on making formal contact with the North London side to ‘expedite the move’.
In fact, the website adds that Racing will send an offer to Tottenham soon for the centre-forward, with the club set to make a ‘significant financial push’ by bidding €8m (£6.8m) for the former Rosario Central man.
