Galatasaray have ‘begun to seriously consider’ signing Tottenham Hotspur star Mathys Tel and are plotting a move to prise the Frenchman away from N17.

The Cimbom first cast their eye over the striker in June, with suggestions at the time that they would make enquiries to gauge the parameters of a potential deal.

Last month, Tel’s representatives approached Galatasaray to offer the striker the opportunity to make the switch to Istanbul.

The Turkish champions were not alone in pursuing him, with Roma having explored Tel earlier in the window, while Napoli have also recently earmarked him as a target but are tipped to act only after clearing space through departures.

The 21-year-old has also been claimed to crave a change from north London, although he has continued to feature prominently in Roberto De Zerbi’s pre-season plans.

Now, the Turkish route has resurfaced for the Frenchman, with the Cimbom once again placing Tel on their radar.

Galatasaray have ‘begun to serious consider’ a move for Tel’s services, according to Turkish outlet Web Aslan.

The Yellow Reds are expected to scrutinise the striker’s transfer terms before committing to a ‘concrete step’, with his situation potentially set for further movement.

Due to his young age, Tel is ‘eligible for the 10+4 foreign player rule’, something which makes the idea of a move even more appealing to Galatasaray.

Whether the Frenchman would welcome a move to Turkey at this juncture of his career remains unclear, although Galatasaray are serial Turkish champions and regularly in the Champions League.

Galatasaray can offer Tel a chance to compete for silverware in the Super Lig as well as Champions League football, but the five years remaining on his Tottenham contract could leave Spurs in a strong position to command a substantial fee.
