Northampton Town Women suffered their second defeat in the group stage of the FA Women’s National League Cup when they were narrowly beaten 1-0 by Tottenham Hotspur Women Professional Game Academy (PGA) at Sixfields on Sunday.

Tottenham were quick to show their ability when they scored the opening goal of the game in the fifth minute. The ball had been crossed into the box, and initially defended well by the Cobblers, however Eloise Summers-Mee found the back of the net.
In the 13th minute, TJ Warren stepped up to take a free-kick from the halfway line. It was delivered well but collected by Spurs' keeper, Rose Mylam. A minute later, Spurs took an opportunity to strike, but the ball was safely collected by Katie McLean.
Cobblers were awarded another free-kick on 18 minutes. Zoe Hillman stepped up to take and delivered a dangerous ball but Mylam was again well placed.
With eight minutes left of the first half, Daisy Barritt took the opportunity to strike from outside the penalty area, however Mylam made the save to keep Spurs ahead at the break.

Spurs were quick to create chances into the second half and had an effort which went just wide at the start of the second half.
Cobblers continued to look for an equaliser as Barritt attempted a cross from the corner flag in the 59th minute, but the ball travelled over the bar.
Matt Vernon made his first substitution in the same minute, with Freya Pearce replaced by Rameyah Farquharson.
The home side produced an impressive strike that forced Mylam to make a crucial save 15 minutes into the second half.
Seven minutes later, Spurs took a powerful strike on target, Katie McLean which McLean saved well.
Emma Pollard was able to get onto the ball, however, wasn’t able to get the shot past Mylam to score.
Spurs followed this by scoring a second goal, however it was ruled out for offside.
Vernon made another substitution with just over 10 minutes left of the play, Caitlin Stewart entered onto the pitch to replace Emma Pollard.
Shortly followed by Olivia Gilbertson replacing Fay Noble.
In the 85th minute, Spurs crossed the ball into the box reaching Lexi Withey, who took a header on target, however McLean handled made an impressive save.
Three minutes later, Zoe Hillman was substituted off the pitch to allow Angel Dade on.
With a minute left of normal time, the away side travelled into the penalty area and took the late opportunity to strike, however it hit the post.
One minute into added time, Beatrice Rogers was shown a yellow card, Tottenham played the resulting free kick short, but the strike that followed travelled straight over the crossbar.
Moments later, the Cobblers took a corner that forced Mylam to make a crucial save before the referee blew the full time whistle.
