Tottenham Hotspur will have to be wary of the fouls they commit, given the record of the man who will be officiating their clash against Paris Saint-Germain this evening.

Tottenham go into the game in Paris unbeaten in the Champions League this season, but truth be told, Thomas Frank’s men were lucky to emerge with a draw from their last two away outings at Bodo/Glimt and Monaco.

Thomas Frank’s men will take heart from the way they played against PSG in the Super Cup, but the Lilywhites go into this evening’s clash short on confidence after being thrashed by Arsenal in the North London derby.

PSG have been installed as the overwhelming favourites by Opta’s Supercomputer, and Spurs will not be pleased to hear who is officiating the clash.

A lot of yellow cards are expected in Tottenham’s clash against PSG

Felix Zwayer will be the man overseeing the clash at Parc de Princes, and his record suggests that we will be seeing a lot of bookings this evening.

Zwayer is an experienced referee, having overseen 39 Champions League games, and he has never been too shy of going to his notebook.

According to MSN, the 44-year-old averages 5.21 yellow cards per match throughout his Champions League career, which is considerably higher than the 3.53 average across the competition.

However, Zwayer is not one to send people off lightly, with the German referee averaging 0.13 red cards per match, which is lower than the competition’s average.

Three Spurs players have to be very careful against PSG

Brennan Johnson is suspended for the trip to Paris, having picked up a red card in Tottenham’s win over FC Copenhagen at home earlier this month.

However, the worry for Spurs is that Micky van de Ven, Richarlison and Randal Kolo Muani are at risk of suspension.

All three players have accumulated two yellow cards in the Champions League and are just one booking away from a one-match suspension.
