Jay Bothroyd has noticed a big issue with Tottenham Hotspur as they try desperately to survive in the Premier League.
Tottenham’s 3-0 loss at home to Nottingham Forest on Sunday came as a huge blow to the North London club’s survival chances.
The result knocked the stuffing out of the team, who had built some momentum against Liverpool and Atletico Madrid, and has put the club into a major crisis, the likes of which they have not seen for decades.
Reports indicate that Tottenham are now ready to make another managerial change in a desperate attempt to stay up, but one pundit sees concerning signs with the Spurs players.
Jay Bothroyd claims Tottenham players do not know how to handle a relegation battle
After the game, Morgan Gibbs-White rubbed salt into Tottenham’s wounds by stating that the Forest players showed more desire and hunger, even though they could not match Spurs in terms of quality.

That is an assessment that Jay Bothroyd agrees with, with the former England striker suggesting the Tottenham players simply lack the fight they need in a relegation battle.
Bothroyd told BBC Radio 5 Live: “It really feels like Tottenham haven’t been in this position before. Even though they were down there last season, they were safe. There was no risk of them going down.
“This season, it just seems like their players don’t know they’re in a relegation battle. They don’t understand what is expected of them in this moment. A lot of it is just hard work, hard graft, then the quality should rise.
“They went into that game on Sunday and Forest just dominated them from the beginning. They created chances, they worked hard, they won their individual duels, they were beating them on first and second balls. It didn’t seem like Spurs had a clue. Even [Igor] Tudor was sitting on the sides and he had his head in his hands.”
Bothroyd sees signs of a disjointed squad at Spurs
The pundit stated that the Tottenham players are not showing any signs of fighting for one another at the moment.
He suggested that the Lilywhites are in major trouble unless the squad can come together and muster up a response swiftly.
