Cristian Romero has been very active on social media as Tottenham’s season has come to a close.
The World Cup winner was instrumental in helping Spurs lift the Europa League trophy in Bilbao last week, putting in a man-of-the-match performance and earning the UEFA Player of the tournament award.
Centre-back Romero earned high praise from Ange Postecoglou, who insisted that, despite interest from abroad, he must not be sold under any circumstances if the club wish to build on their success.
The 27-year-old recently posted images of Spurs’ trophy parade, which has seen his stock rise with the fanbase in recent weeks, and their bond is only going to grow stronger after the centre-back’s most recent message.
Romero says ‘we must continue’ in heartfelt message
Tottenham’s Premier League season ended with their 22nd defeat of the season, a 4-1 home loss to Brighton (25 May), but it bore little meaning as the fans were still in a celebratory mood.

It had little effect on the players too, with Romero taking to Instagram the next day to post a montage of their Europa League triumph, which was accompanied by a brief but meaningful message.
The post read: “We achieved what we wanted this season as a group, and that’s what matters
and….My name is part of the history of this beautiful club.
“I want to thank you all for the love and support every day despite everything, but I have no doubt that staying together led us to success. We must continue: this is the path.”
Romero’s gradually increasing cult hero status at Tottenham is not only down to his recent love-in with the fans, but mainly due to his unique footballing abilities.
The Argentine’s statistics in the Europa League perfectly paint the picture, especially given that six of the seven games the vice-captain was involved in were in the knockout rounds.
Atletico Madrid links loom over Romero
Romero clearly has a newfound admiration for the Lilywhites, but that does not necessarily detract from his strong links with Atletico Madrid.
Daniel Levy has been on the receiving end of indirect criticism from the fiery defender, and could be willing to accept an offer as low as £44million for his transfer.
This could irk everyone involved at Tottenham, who will be hoping that Romero’s most recent post indicate he is more likely to stay in North London.
