Daniel Levy now has his eyes fixed on bringing Lyon’s Georges Mikautadze to Tottenham ahead of the upcoming Premier League campaign.

Levy knows that he must supply Thomas Frank with plenty of resources if the Dane is to vindicate his new boss’ decision to sack Ange Postecoglou, and the Spurs chief has now turned his attention towards Mikautadze.

The Georgian frontman plundered 17 goals and nine assists in all competitions last term, but with Lyon facing major financial difficulties at present, he seems destined to depart the French giants this summer.

Spurs have now seemingly positioned themselves so that they are ready to capitalise as Lyon’s situation unfolds, and that could present the Lilywhites with a fantastic opportunity.

Tottenham lead Mikautadze race as offer prepared

Dominic Solanke’s struggles last term have made attacking reinforcements a relatively big priority in N17 this summer, and it now looks as though Tottenham may be in line to bring in their next star frontman.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Lyon’s financial issues saw them relegated to Ligue 2 by the Ligue 1 authorities on Tuesday (24 June), and although they intend to appeal that decision, it surely won’t alter the fact that they will likely have to sell several key players.

That has handed Levy the perfect opportunity to launch a raid for Mikautadze, and Spurs are currently leading the race to sign the 24-year-old, according to Tutto Juve (26 June).

The North Londoners are understood to be preparing a concrete offer for the striker in the next few weeks, while Juventus are also keen on the former Metz man.

Several other Premier League clubs also have their eyes on Mikautadze, but Tottenham are currently thought to be in a particularly strong position.

Mikautadze would be a great addition for Spurs

Spurs’ interest in Mikautadze is nothing new, as they previously showed an interest in signing the striker during his time at Metz.

The Georgian has since kicked on after moving to Lyon last summer, and is now arguably one of the most exciting young strikers in European football at present.

His ability to both score goals and provide opportunities for others would make him a strong addition to Frank’s attacking ranks.

Levy seems to have acknowledged the fact that he will need to back the Dane this summer if he wants to get the turnaround that he desires, and Mikautadze seems set to be part of the heavy investment from the 63-year-old.

It’s always difficult to call how well a player will adapt to a different league, but if Tottenham could bring Mikautadze in, then it could be one of the most exciting signings of the summer in the Premier League.
