Even though some sources over the last few days have indicated that Man United are now the overwhelming favourites to land Bryan Mbeumo, it has now been claimed that Daniel Levy is not prepared to give up on Tottenham’s pursuit of the Brentford forward just yet.

While it seemed like the race for the Brentford star’ signature was neck and neck between Spurs and Man United until last week, things appear to have swung in United’s favour since the weekend.

Sky Sports are now reporting that Mbeumo is likely to head to Old Trafford, with the forward having his heart set on a move to United.

This has been backed up by Fabrizio Romano, who has indicated that Man United’s second offer to Brentford may be enough to clinch the Mbeumo deal.

However, according to The Daily Mirror’s Darren Lewis, Tottenham Hotspur have still not abandoned their pursuit of the 25-year-old.

The report says that Levy is spearheading Spurs’ pursuit of the Bees star, with the Tottenham chairman trying incredibly hard to reunite the forward with Thomas Frank at N17.

When asked about the race for Mbeumo’s signature, Lewis told Last Word on Spurs: “It’s still too close to call, United have the edge, but Spurs are prepared to pay the money. The chairman wants to deliver a statement signing for the manager.

“I know that he’s really trying hard, and if Mbeumo does go to United, it won’t be because Spurs haven’t tried incredibly hard to take him.”

Tottenham may have moved on from Bryan Mbeumo

While Lewis seems to believe that Tottenham still have a chance of landing the Brentford man, other sources seem to disagree with The Mirror journalist.

It has been suggested over the last 24 hours that Spurs are ready to push ahead with a move for Eberechi Eze after admitting defeat in their Mbeumo pursuit.
