Daniel Levy left his role as chairman in September 2025 amid an overhaul by the Lewis family
Tottenham Hotspur paid outgoing executive chairman Daniel Levy a reported £27million amid his exit from the club. His 24-year tenure at the club was abruptly ended a year ago.
The Athletic reports that the payout took into account his salary, bonuses and the club’s long-term incentive plan. The pay-out is said to be one of the largest made to a football executive.
The decision to make a change came amid an overhaul of the club, in an open letter to fans at the end of last season, Levy’s replacement Peter Charrington wrote: “Last September, we recognised that something seismic had to change at Spurs.
“The Lewis family stepped in and authorised a full reset. That decision was not taken lightly, and it came later than it should have.”
Since then, the Lewis family have pumped £320 million into the club in the past year. Most recently they invested £120 million for working capital as they continue to incrementally increase their stake in the club.
Levy still owns around 24% of Tottenham, but saw that diluted earlier in the summer. He was given the chance to be part of a £100million equity investment, but did not respond by the August deadline, with his stake reducing from 26%.

Spurs boss Roberto De Zerbi has also been backed heavily in the transfer window. The club signed 10 new players in the summer for a combined price of almost £400million.
Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes, Savio, Jan Paul van Hecke and Tosim Adarabiyo were among the big money arrivals.
The investment in the playing staff is to try and avoid a similar situation to last season where the club fought against relegation from the Premier League for the majority of the campaign. Spurs needed a final day win over Everton to seal thor safety.
However, going into the first international break of the season, Tottenham sit bottom of the Premier League table. Of their five league games so far this campaign, Spurs have lost three and drawn two.
De Zerbi’s side are back in action on Saturday, 10 October when they travel to take on Manchester United at Old Trafford.
