The Independent’s Miguel Delaney has provided some interesting information on what Daniel Levy and Tottenham were planning to do if Manchester City were found guilty of violating financial regulations.

The Premier League have charged Manchester City with 115 breaches of FFP rules over nine years from 2009 to 2017.

It has been nearly three years since the charges were made against Man City, but there is no verdict on the matter yet.

Speaking in the summer, Daniel Levy said that the investigation into Man City’s alleged breaches needs to come to a conclusion quickly for the good of the game.

Daniel Levy was seeking compensation for Tottenham Hotspur

It was previously reported that Tottenham were among those looking for financial remuneration if Man City were found guilty.

Miguel Delaney has now revealed in the Inside Football newsletter that Levy, along with Tim Lewis, who served as Arsenal’s executive vice-chair from 2020 to 2023, were among the most critical voices about the proposition of state ownership in the Premier League about the alleged financial breaches by Man City.

In fact, Delany asserts that if City had been found guilty, Levy had prepared Spurs to pursue considerable compensation, given the number of times they missed out on Champions League qualification.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The journalist explained that the delay in getting a verdict has caused a split among the Premier League clubs, with some clubs wanting to shelve the case since it damages the competition’s brand, while others are pressing for a proper conclusion.

The exits of Levy and Lewis have apparently ‘tempered anxiety’, ‘diluted tension’ and ‘taken some of the heat out of the situation’.

Spurs are battling Chelsea and others regarding PSR regulations

This update comes just two weeks after a report revealed Tottenham are leading the faction of Premier League clubs in favour of continuing the strict PSR rules.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are said to be leading the opposite camp, who want more lenient PSR measures to be put in place.

It is thus clear that there is war going on at the boardroom level between Premier League clubs, with the Lilywhites very much seeming to be at the thick of it.
