David Moyes unleashed his frustration at the footballing rules that resulted in him receiving a yellow card for celebrating Everton's dramatic late equaliser. The Toffees manager acknowledged his celebration resembled David Pleat's iconic pitch invasion at Manchester City in 1983, when Luton preserved their top-flight status.

The Scotsman's only disappointment about his impromptu sprint onto the turf was not executing a knee slide to maximise the value of his caution. Moyes said: "Yes, I got booked for that. Who wants to see managers getting booked for celebrating? We're killing it, that the managers can't leave their technical area. I mean, I don't think that I would dance around if the goal was in the 55th minute.

"But you know that shows they've got nothing about them at all. No thoughts about what football means to the managers. Sad, isn't it? I'm still shaking my head.

"If it happens again, yes I bloody will do it again. Actually, I think if I had been a bit more mobile, I might have done a knee slide."

He added: "Everybody's been desperate for Beto to do well and he continues to work like a beast every day to try and improve himself, to try and make himself better. Sometimes in life, the harder you work, the luckier you get."

He said: "I said before the game we need to manage the key moments better and in one moment we were not alive and this cost us the game. It feels painful but you can feel sorry for yourselves or you can choose to again and we will do that.

"I think it is only a small group of fans and they can share their frustrations. It is part of the game but I can promise I will give everything for the club."
