Tottenham Hotspur are now set to complete the appointment of Thomas Frank after an agreement was struck to take Justin Cochrane as assistant, according to David Ornstein.

Spurs have been in the market for a new manager after Ange Postecoglou was sacked, despite lifting the Europa League trophy. There were plenty of rumours surrounding his future with the European victory casting doubt over whether he would be relieved of his duties, but Daniel Levy ultimately made the decision to part ways with the Australian manager.

Attention quickly turned to finding his replacement, with Frank identified as a priority target. The Danish manager has been still under contract at Brentford, understandably making a deal slightly more difficult than bringing in a manager who is a free agent.

Brentford trio set to join him

Ornstein has now reported that Tottenham are set to complete the appointment of Frank after an agreement was struck to bring Cochrane as his assistant, while Chris Haslam and Joe Newton will also join the club as part of the coaching staff.

The Athletic reporter has confirmed that the deal was being held up by the situation of Cochrane, with Brentford hoping to keep him at the club. An appointment is now edging closer to completion, with Levy getting his man in time for pre-season.

It's no surprise that Tottenham identified Frank as the right manager, considering the job he's done at Brentford. Frank helped gain promotion to the Premier League, and it didn't take long for the Bees to develop into a fully-fledged top-flight side with minimal threat of relegation.

It will be interesting to see how he is able to cope at a bigger club with a bigger budget, and there's every chance it allows him to go to the next level as a manager. There's no doubt Frank would be keen to bring some of his Brentford squad along with him too, with Bryan Mbeumo the obvious star player who would make a significant impact at Spurs.
