Eveliina Summanen put in a strong performance in midfield for Finland, but couldn’t prevent her side from suffering a 2-1 defeat to Norway at Euro 2025 on Sunday evening.

The midfielder, who was once again named in the starting XI at the Stade de Tourbillon in Sion, Switzerland, played a part in her nation’s equaliser as she picked out Oona Siren who then teed up Oona Sevenius and she emphatically finish, cancelling out Norway’s early opener.

Our number 25 went inches away from putting Finland in the lead in the contest as her left-footed strike from the edge of the box struck the outside of the far post. Despite the impressive performance from the Boreal Owls, creating a number of key chances, Caroline Graham reinstated Norway’s lead with six minutes remaining of normal time.

Olga Ahtinen was introduced in the 87th minute, earning her first minutes of the tournament, as Finland searched for an equaliser, but it wasn’t to be for Outi Saarinen’s side as Norway held on to the three points and are on the brink of securing their place in the quarter-final of the competition.

Eveliina completed the full match on her 78th cap for her country. Olga’s substitute appearance saw her reach her 77th.

Finland are still within a chance of progressing to the knockout stages, currently on three points after three games, but will need to beat hosts Switzerland in their final group game on Thursday (8pm).
