Tottenham Hotspur have sacked Thomas Frank following their 2-1 defeat to Newcastle United.

Both managers were under pressure heading into last night’s game, with Eddie Howe reiterating to the media that he is the right man for the Magpies job. Ultimately, Newcastle stunned Spurs in their own backyard to leave them sitting 16th - and five points above the drop zone.

An emotional Howe gave an explosive fist pump to the Toon away end at the full-time whistle - highlighting how much the three points meant. Newcastle had won just one of their previous eight fixtures before the victory in North London.

Tottenham Hotspur sack Thomas Frank

Tottenham have now pulled the trigger on Frank - who faced “you’re getting sacked in the morning” chants from his own fans - after just eight months in charge. He was a highly coveted manager due to his seven-year reign as Brentford boss.

While still awaiting official confirmation from the club, it is being widely reported that Spurs have sacked the 52-year-old. Tottenham are now searching for their fifth manager in as many years since Jose Mourinho’s exit in 2021.

Eddie Howe on Thomas Frank

Speaking after beating Spurs, Howe backed Frank to be given time to turn results around. He said: “The fine reality of this job is that it could by any one of us at any moment. It’s not nice.

“When you look at Tottenham and the size of their injury list, you can see how difficult it is. Thomas is an outstanding manager and I hope he gets time to show it.”
