Preston 0-1 Everton

Conor Coady

Former Everton defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

Preston need to keep it like this until half-time because they're well in it. They're defending OK in spells and they're keeping Everton in front of them.

At the end of the day, it's still 1-0 so at any point in this game when there's just a one goal difference, you are right in the game because we all know what can happen in the blink of an eye.

Post

Preston 0-1 Everton

Everton are knocking the ball around well and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall plays it into the feet of Thierno Barry.

But it is such a tame finish from 20 yards out as he tried to pass the ball into the net, but it is the easiest save Lee Nicholls will make all night.

'It's finely balanced'

HT: Newcastle 1-1 West Brom

John Anderson

Former Newcastle defender on BBC Radio Newcastle at St James' Park

It's been an interesting half, I thought we started really well and then the goal knocked us back.

I thought the response was good, it's a fabulous ball in by Amar Dedic for the [Newcastle] goal. It's finely balanced.

To be fair to West Brom, they've played some decent stuff and knocked it about quite well.

GOAL - Tottenham 2-0 Charlton

Dominic Solanke (45 mins)

Spurs have a second!

Timothy Ouma can't get to the ball as Charlton scramble to clear it from their box.

That allows it to drop to Dominic Solanke, who drills an effort inside the near post.

Charlton have barely had a sniff. It feels like it will only go one way from here.

Summer signings link up

Newcastle 1-1 West Brom

Ciaran Kelly

BBC Sport reporter at St James' Park

Around £96m worth of transfer fees went into that equaliser for Newcastle United.

Three summer signings combine as Sean Steur feeds Amar Dedic on the right and the defender's cross is knocked in by Bazoumana Toure, who scores his first goal for the club.

Head coach Matthias Jaissle clenches his fist on the touchline.

GOAL - Preston 0-1 Everton

Thierno Barry

Two in two games for Thierno Barry.

After scoring against Crystal Palace at the weekend, Barry gets on the scoresheet again.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall starts the move with an excellent diagonal pass to Vitalii Mykolenko and he puts the ball into the middle and Barry is there to convert to put the Toffees 1-0 up.

'Fabulous ball by Dedic'

Newcastle 1-1 West Brom

John Anderson

Former Newcastle defender on BBC Radio Newcastle at St James' Park

It's a wonderful ball. The goalkeeper can't get anywhere near it.

Bazoumana Toure just sneaks in between the two of them and just pokes it into the net.

It's a fabulous ball by Amar Dedic.

GOAL - Newcastle 1-1 West Brom

Bazoumana Toure (Newcastle)

Two of Newcastle's new signings combine to make it 1-1.

Amar Dedic does really well down the right flank and he provides an excellent cross in the middle, where Bazoumana Traore had got himself in between two defenders to score from close range.

He looks delighted at his first goal for the club.

Post

Preston 0-0 Everton

Chances at both ends at Deepdale.

Delano Burgzorg has an opportunity for the hosts, but James Tarkowski makes a vital deflection and that wipes out all the shot's power with Jordan Pickford gathering.

Everton then spring a quick attack of their own, with the move ending when Thierno Barry's strike is comfortably saved by Lee Nicholls.
