Tottenham are now just hours away from taking on Manchester United in their Europa League final in Bilbao. Spurs are hoping to salvage silverware and Champions League qualification from what has been a hugely disappointing campaign.

Ange Postecoglou is also fighting for his job to boot, making this a hugely important fixture for all involved. Here we take a look at what it could be worth to Tottenham and Manchester United financially.

What is the Europa League prize money for winners and runners’ up?

In terms of upfront money, the Europa League winners will claim £5million, while both finalists have also received £5.9million for just making the final. On top of the prize money, the Europa League winners receive automatic qualification for next season’s Champions League league phase. That means a guaranteed £15.9million. Of course, that figure would rise if the winners draw or win games in next season’s Champions League, with stalemates and victories coming with extra payments, while defeats are unpaid aside from the initial qualification payment.

Tottenham have earned £26.5million in prize money from the Europa League this season, and that includes the £5.9million mentioned that teams receive for reaching the final.

Tottenham’s fitness boost

Tottenham will get forward Heung-min Son back to full fitness for the final, with the South Korean getting a first start since his injury over the weekend. He said after the game: “I feel good, a little tired, first game back, but physically I feel good and ready to go. Today, 70 minutes, it was good to get that game time in my legs. Crystal Palace as well, when I came on and played 25, 30 minutes last week. The most important thing is everybody got fit for Wednesday. I’ll be ready for Wednesday.”

On his injury, he added: "It’s been very tough to watch and not be involved. It’s one of the tough moments when you’re not actually there. The lads did a fantastic job. I was very happy because the hard work has paid off, and I was so happy to see the boys celebrating. They deserved that. The job is not finished. We have a massive job on Wednesday to do that. I believe we can do it."

On the final itself, Son continued: “As I said, our objective is to get a result on Wednesday, so let’s get everyone together on Wednesday, from now on, everyone together, one goal, together it will happen.”

United receive triple boost

Manchester United have also been handed boosts for the final - three of them, in fact. The United club site confirmed the return of three players to training ahead of the team jetting off to Northern Spain. The website stated: “Manchester United appear to have received a triple boost on the eve of the UEFA Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur in Bilbao.

“Diogo Dalot, Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee have had spells on the sidelines in the build-up to Wednesday's big game, but all three players were spotted taking part in the team's pre-flight session on the Carrington grass this (Tuesday) morning. While their availability for the final is still to be confirmed, the fact they were involved in the portion of training captured live on MUTV is surely an encouraging sign ahead of the expected announcement of Ruben Amorim's travelling group later today.”
