Everton are set to discover Brennan Johnson’s answer as he is expected to leave Tottenham Hotspur in the next 24 hours.

Just hours separate Everton and the January transfer window and added quality is certainly needed on Merseyside.

David Moyes saw his side battle hard at the City Ground on Tuesday evening, but that cannot paper over the cracks with his squad.

The January window is going to offer The Friedkin Group with an opportunity to continue the fine work shown over their opening 12 months at the club.

As the Blues eye more firepower for their attack, it has been suggested that Everton have contacted Spurs over Johnson.

Hours out from the window opening and it looks as if the Wales international will secure a very early move in the January market.

Brennan Johnson set for medical after Everton show interest

Pep Guardiola is a big admirer of Johnson, who was Tottenham’s top goalscorer from right-wing last season.

Despite his impressive goal return, the Wales international is now set to leave north London just months on from winning them the Europa League.

According to The Telegraph, Johnson is now set to undergo his Crystal Palace medical in the coming 24 hours.

Everton are interested in Brennan Johnson… is he what we need? 🧐

Having agreed a fee in the region of £35m-£40m, the Eagles are believed to be Johnson’s top choice.

A deal is expected to be completed over the coming days and potentially in time for him to face Newcastle United at the weekend.

Everton have held a long-standing interest in Johnson even back to his days with Nottingham Forest.

However, it looks as if the Blues are going to miss out on him again, but they have plenty of quality in that area already.

Everton did not need to spend £35m on Johnson

There will be plenty of nerves on Merseyside as Iliman Ndiaye undergoes tests for an injury potentially sustained at AFCON.

A real strain has been placed on Everton’s options over recent weeks with the injury list piling up.

How many signings do you want to see made in January? 💰

A striker, a midfielder and a right-back… are we missing anything here?

However, a new right winger is not what Everton need in the January window.

The Toffees are in desperate need of a new right-back and potentially another striker to help ease the burden on Thierno Barry.

With the hope that Ndiaye returns next month from AFCON, Everton have two strong right-wingers in the Senegal international and Tyler Dibling already.
