Everton retain hope of signing Tottenham forward Brennan Johnson despite widespread reports that he’s closing in on a move to Crystal Palace.
David Moyes is looking to be active in the January transfer window as he aims to improve his squad following a decent first half of the Premier League campaign.

And ahead of the final 19 fixtures, Moyes now has the chance to add to his squad with the transfer window open.

However, a new claim in the Daily Mail on Thursday says that the Wales international is “unsure about leaving” the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, despite the fact he’s not in Thomas Frank’s plans.
Everton have already been linked with Johnson, with Fabrizio Romano claiming in December that Sunderland and Bournemouth are also potential destinations for the 24-year-old.
Now, the Mail claims that while Moyes is prioritising deals for a new striker and right-back this month, Johnson’s availability has caught the eye.
The newspaper also claims on New Year’s Day that Wolves’ Jorgen Strand Larsen is someone who has been discussed at Finch Farm’s offices, but his form this season hasn’t been great.
Ivan Toney is seemingly out of reach due to his wage demands, while Roma striker Artem Dovbyk is also an option and could be a more realistic one due to the Friedkins’ connection there.
Dwight McNeil is someone who’s wanted elsewhere. However, it is claimed that Moyes is “reluctant to sell the winger just now”.
Who else have Everton been linked with signing this January?
There have been a lot of names mentioned.
Manchester United’s Kobbie Mainoo and Manchester City’s Kalvin Phillips have both been mentioned as potential midfield signings, as well as Middlesbrough’s Hayden Hackney.
Atletico Madrid’s England star Conor Gallagher is also someone apparently on Everton‘s radar.
However, as reported by the Mail, Moyes doesn’t seem to be prioritising additional midfielders this month.
According to BBC Sport, Everton are looking at Botafogo’s Vitinho to solve their right-back issues with Seamus Coleman injured and Nathan Patterson seemingly out of the picture.
