Everton predicted XI vs Tottenham – Moyes loses faith in Keane as fringe players get nod - Goodison News
Description

Everton head to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday for their final Premier League fixture of the season.

There is little at stake for the Toffees beyond finishing with some pride, after a poor recent spell ended their hopes of securing European football.

David Moyes’ team have failed to win any of their six matches since the international break, with the 3-1 defeat to Sunderland marking the latest setback in a disappointing run.

Before that pause, the Blues had worked their way into a strong position in the battle for continental qualification. However, their form has since fallen away, leaving Everton in 12th place going into the final round of matches.

As they prepare to face Tottenham on Sunday, the Toffees will be desperate to claim victory and bring the campaign to a positive close.

David Moyes offers chances to fringe players as season comes to a close

It has been a dismal run of form for Everton, and while performances on the pitch have not been good enough, Moyes himself has to shoulder a lot of the blame.

Throughout this period, the Scotsman has remained reluctant to change, while the same ‘square pegs in round holes’ approach has been on show.

Jake O’Brien has continued to struggle at right-back in recent weeks, which is not necessarily his own fault, as he is simply not a full-back, at least when the solution is not just temporary.

Since replacing the injured Jarrad Branthwaite in the side, Michael Keane has continued to struggle alongside James Tarkowski, with the pair almost comical with their defending for Sunderland’s third.

With Tarkowski unlikely to drop out, Keane could drop to the bench, while Seamus Coleman replaces him for one final start, thus allowing O’Brien to fill in at centre-back.

Elsewhere, Moyes may opt to finally give Tyrique George a start after some lively cameos, which could be his final chance before a decision is made on his current loan deal.

Tim Iroegbunam was off it against Sunderland, after a string of positive performances.

Beto has hit form in recent weeks, but Moyes may want a closer look at Thierno Barry as focus already turns to next season.

Though given the fact that Everton have nothing to play for, youngster Harrison Armstrong could get a chance, rounding off the third and final change. This is after Armstrong has seemingly slipped out of Moyes’ plans in recent months.

Everton have one final chance to lift mood

Naturally, the way the term has ended is bitterly disappointing for Everton.

Despite Europe not being at the top of the priorities list at the start of the campaign, the way that the Toffees have completely fallen out of the race is incredibly underwhelming.

Ahead of next season, the fanbase needs convincing that the current direction is the correct one, and that Moyes is the man to continue building something.

Recent form has shown nothing with that in mind, leaving the Blues with one final chance to correct what has been a poor slip since returning from the international break.

David Moyes ‘fuming’ as Jamie Redknapp shares fear ahead of Tottenham match - Goodison News
Description

David Moyes will likely be “fuming” with his Everton players and that only spells bad news for Tottenham Hotspur.

That is the view of Jamie Redknapp, who was speaking on the back of Tottenham Hotspur’s 2-1 loss at Chelsea on Tuesday.

Spurs’ defeat means the last relegation spot will be decided on the final weekend of the Premier League season.

Tottenham host Everton at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, while fellow relegation battlers West Ham are at home to Leeds United.

Ahead of Everton’s trip to North London, Redknapp has shared an interesting verdict.

Everton form is actually bad news for Tottenham

Everton’s season has ended in a rather disappointing manner, even if a top-half finish is still very much achievable.

It was not that long ago there was even talk of a Champions League spot being up for grabs for the Toffees if they beat rivals Liverpool.

However, that is one of six games in a row Everton have failed to win since beating Chelsea 3-0 in a high point of the campaign on 21 March.

The Toffees most recently went down 3-1 to Sunderland at the weekend, sparking plenty of boos from the home sections, which quickly emptied.

But Redknapp, speaking live on Sky Sports on Tuesday night, suggested that could work against Tottenham in Sunday’s showdown.

“[Tottenham] are sleepwalking towards relegation. I said it earlier this season,” Redknapp said. “The only thing that’s saved them is a couple of good results.

“When I say good, they beat Wolves, and they beat an Aston Villa side who had seven players out at the time.

“Now they’ve got to find a way to win a game at home. Their home form has been horrendous all season. They’ve had no quality and no character to win a football match.

“Now they’ve got to find a way to beat Everton. David Moyes will be fuming after the weekend and he’ll be going there thinking, ‘We’ve got to get something out of this game.’

“I’d rather be playing Leeds at home than Everton.”

Redknapp went on to add that, despite Spurs’ dreadful home record, he can see Roberto De Zerbi’s men getting the point they need to stay up.

How does Tottenham’s home form compare to Everton’s?

Everton let slip a lead to lose against Sunderland last Sunday, with that the Toffees’ six defeat in 19 games on home soil this term.

A lot has been made, rightly so, of Everton’s poor record in their maiden campaign at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

But Tottenham’s form on their own patch has been even worse. The Lilywhites have taken 12 points from a possible 54 this season, compared to 23 points from 57 for Everton.

Incredibly, no team in the division has a worse record than Spurs, with Burnley also collecting 12 from 54 so far.

Everton really should be targeting all three points when they travel to the capital, then, in what could be a seismic result in the Premier League relegation battle.

Everton hold on to Marcos Senesi hope despite Tottenham agreement

Everton hold on to Marcos Senesi hope despite Tottenham agreement - Goodison News
Description

Everton can still sign Bouremouth defender Marcos Senesi if Tottenham Hotspur are relegated from the Premier League.

The Argentina international will be a free agent in the summer and has apparently reached an agreement on personal terms with Spurs to join them ahead of the 2026-27 campaign, according to Florian Plettenberg.

While the Bournemouth centre-back has given his commitment to the North London outfit, the Sky Sports journalist revealed on 24 April that it depends on them staying in the English top flight.

As things stand, Tottenham are 18th in the table and there’s every possibility that they could go down to the Championship, which will undoubtedly give hope to the Toffees over possibly getting a deal over the line for the 28-year-old.

David Moyes has lost Jarrad Branthwaite at the Merseyside outfit once again due to injury and it would make sense for them to reinforce their backline in the summer.

Everton transfer priority clear for David Moyes

Senesi has emerged as a target for Moyes and it’s understandable considering Branthwaite’s persistent fitness issues.

There’s no guarantee that the young English defender will remain fit for most of next season and it would make sense for the Toffees to look at alternatives.

While the Scottish manager has done well since taking over from Sean Dyche, there will be added expectations to compete for titles next season.

If the Blues end up qualifying for Europe, quality in depth will be essential to make a mark on all fronts and the left-footed Bournemouth defender seems like the right fit for them.

Dan Friedkin already triggers Hill Dickinson Stadium contingency

Everton extended Michael Keane’s contract, and rightly so, after the defender’s contributions in the current campaign.

Branthwaite has been sidelined for most of the season, but the former Manchester United centre-back hasn’t let Moyes feel the 23-year-old’s absence.

Another addition to the backline should be on the Toffees’, but Dan Friedkin has made sure they don’t feel pressured into buying someone in the summer.

Keane and James Tarkowski have been solid for the Merseysiders and there’s no reason they can’t maintain their standards in the upcoming campaign.

Everton to reignite Conor Gallagher transfer chase as Tottenham exodus on cards - Goodison News
Description

Everton may have an opportunity to make a move for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Conor Gallagher in the upcoming transfer window.

The England international joined Spurs in the winter transfer window for around £34million, but Roberto De Zerbi’s team are in a spot of bother right now, stranded in the relegation zone.

David Moyes wanted Gallagher before the North London outfit won the race for his signature, but the Blues may have another opportunity sooner than expected.

Tottenham could find themselves in the Championship at the end of the season and the likes of the 26-year-old midfielder could potentially look for a way out.

Moyes wanted reinforcements at Hill Dickinson Stadium in January, but The Friedkin Group were reluctant to spend a lot of money, but that will surely need to change ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.

Conor Gallagher already feels unwanted at Tottenham

Gallagher has proved a disappointing signing for Tottenham, with fans in N17 already frustrated by his performances.

The English midfielder might already be thinking about looking for pastures new after failing to win over supporters at Spurs, with the atmosphere toxic in North London due to their relegation prospects.

Moyes has managed to revive Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s career at Hill Dickinson Stadium and that could potentially be something Gallagher is enticed by.

Considering the Englishman’s Champions League experience at Atletico Madrid and Chelsea, he could be a much-needed addition to the Scottish manager’s squad.

The Blues’ hopes of finishing in the top six are still alive despite losing to Liverpool and Moyes has what it takes to qualify for Europe.

Everton need summer replacement for integral star

Idrissa Gueye has been one of the standout stars at Everton this season, forming a brilliant partnership with James Garner in the engine room.

The Senegal international’s current contract at the Toffees expires at the end of the season and Moyes will surely need a replacement for one of his influential players if he leaves.

Gallagher seems like the perfect replacement for Gueye and could form a brilliant midfield trio with Garner and Dewsbury-Hall.

Fans in L3 are expecting big things from the Merseyside outfit in the summer and the Tottenham ace could be one of their marquee signings.

Everton line up Brennan Johnson hijack as Crystal Palace face last-gasp crisis in deal for Tottenham forward - Goodison News
Description

Everton retain hope of signing Tottenham forward Brennan Johnson despite widespread reports that he’s closing in on a move to Crystal Palace.

David Moyes is looking to be active in the January transfer window as he aims to improve his squad following a decent first half of the Premier League campaign.

Everton’s 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest on Tuesday has propelled them up to eighth in the league standings after 19 games.

And ahead of the final 19 fixtures, Moyes now has the chance to add to his squad with the transfer window open.

Everton have Brennan Johnson hope as he’s ‘unsure’ on move

It’s been widely reported that Crystal Palace have an agreement in place to sign Tottenham forward Johnson for £35million.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

However, a new claim in the Daily Mail on Thursday says that the Wales international is “unsure about leaving” the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, despite the fact he’s not in Thomas Frank’s plans.

Everton have already been linked with Johnson, with Fabrizio Romano claiming in December that Sunderland and Bournemouth are also potential destinations for the 24-year-old.

Now, the Mail claims that while Moyes is prioritising deals for a new striker and right-back this month, Johnson’s availability has caught the eye.

The newspaper also claims on New Year’s Day that Wolves’ Jorgen Strand Larsen is someone who has been discussed at Finch Farm’s offices, but his form this season hasn’t been great.

Ivan Toney is seemingly out of reach due to his wage demands, while Roma striker Artem Dovbyk is also an option and could be a more realistic one due to the Friedkins’ connection there.

Dwight McNeil is someone who’s wanted elsewhere. However, it is claimed that Moyes is “reluctant to sell the winger just now”.

Who else have Everton been linked with signing this January?

There have been a lot of names mentioned.

Manchester United’s Kobbie Mainoo and Manchester City’s Kalvin Phillips have both been mentioned as potential midfield signings, as well as Middlesbrough’s Hayden Hackney.

Atletico Madrid’s England star Conor Gallagher is also someone apparently on Everton‘s radar.

However, as reported by the Mail, Moyes doesn’t seem to be prioritising additional midfielders this month.

According to BBC Sport, Everton are looking at Botafogo’s Vitinho to solve their right-back issues with Seamus Coleman injured and Nathan Patterson seemingly out of the picture.

Description

Everton are keen on bringing Tottenham star Brennan Johnson to the Hill Dickinson Stadium this January.

David Moyes will be hoping to see Everton do some business in January, with the additionof a striker set to be the number one priority.

Neither Beto nor Thierno Barry have showcased their ability in the Premier League, with the Toffees among the lowest scorers in the division so far this season.

However, the Merseysiders are also looking to reinforce their wide options, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that the Toffees have expressed an interest in signing Johnson.

Brennan Johnson named as new Everton target

Brennan Johnson, who was once linked with Everton, has become a bit-part player at Tottenham under Thomas Frank, with all signs now pointing towards an exit in January.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

Crystal Palace have already reached an agreement for his transfer, though several other clubs have also reported an interest.

Everton being one of them, according to Fabrizio Romano via his YouTube channel.

Sunderland and Bournemouth have also been named as potential destinations for the Wales international, who scored 9 times for Tottenham last season in all competitions.

His form in the previous campaign earned him plenty of plaudits, including from Bellamy, who praised the qualities that the 24-year-old has to offer.

Everton must go all out for Johnson after what Bellamy said

This season has been a bit of a write-off for Johnson, who simply hasn’t had the exposure to regular minutes that a winger usually needs to thrive.

However, in seasons prior to the current one, he has shone.

In both of his previous campaigns at Tottenham, the Wales international registered double figures for goals and assists.

Five of his 18 goals arrived in the Europa League, while the remaining 11 all arrived in the Premier League despite the fact that Tottenham finished 17th.

His form earned him plenty of praise, and Bellamy was the one shouting home about him more than anyone.

As quoted by the Independent, he said: “His high intensity is through the roof, and he is elite.

“Spurs have paid that money, and he could have a bad few years. But if I were in another job and he was worth £80m I’d go and buy him for that.

“Trust me, he’s got every part of football that makes him an elite player. That’s the player I see.”

Jamie O’Hara risks wrath of entire Everton fanbase with one comment – ‘It’s unbelievable’

Jamie O’Hara risks wrath of entire Everton fanbase with one comment – ‘It’s unbelievable’ - Goodison News
Description

Everton fans have continued to back David Moyes and their club even when outside criticism comes their way.

Everton will face Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on 3 November in their 10th game of the Premier League season.

The Toffees have had a decent start to the season, with Everton’s narrow 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace no doubt one of the highlights.

Fans have been loud and proud throughout the period, with most keen to back the process.

Jamie O’Hara takes dig at Hill Dickinson Stadium

While Everton’s new Hill Dickinson Stadium has been a tough ground to visit so far, with fans quickly falling in love, Jamie O’Hara clearly doesn’t take that view.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

O’Hara told talkSPORT on 31 November that the Hill Dickinson Stadium is a “toy version” of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

He said: “Look at our ground, look at our stadium. It’s unbelievable – everyone’s trying to copy us, even Everton!

“Have you seen Everton’s Stadium? Have you seen inside it? It looks like a toy Spurs stadium.

“When you watch it on TV now, it looks like Spurs, but just not as big. It’s like a toy version of it. Everyone wants to copy our stadium!”

Ironically, Everton’s controversial 3-0 defeat to Tottenham was the first time a team had defeated the Toffees at home since the season began.

There is no doubt that Everton fans will be less than impressed at O’Hara’s comments, which are obviously well wide of the mark.

But for now, Everton’s defeat to Tottenham will be behind them, and Toffees supporters will be focused on Monday’s game with their team being in desperate need of securing three points.

How does the Hill Dickinson Stadium compare to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium?

Tottenham’s stadium has a capacity of around 62,850, which is 10,081 more than Everton’s, which has a marginally smaller capacity compared to other top-tier stadiums.

Meanwhile, the Lilywhites’ home is designed for multi-purpose use and has hosted both music and other sporting events. This includes the South Stand, which is the UK’s largest single-tier stand with 17,500 seats available.

Not to mention that the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is far more established, given that it opened back in 2019.

But the Toffees’ stadium does come with its merits, which include a 17,000-capacity plaza and modern facilities, including premium seating.

While Spurs’ stadium is bigger and often more luxurious, the Hill Dickinson Stadium offers the perfect balance of grandeur and cosiness, which still creates community among fans.

‘Friedkins given cheap alternative’ amid Reguilon and Everton transfer surprise

‘Friedkins given cheap alternative’ amid Reguilon and Everton transfer surprise - Goodison News
Description

Sergio Reguilon is one of many names on the free agent market this summer.

Reguilon, 28, has departed from Tottenham Hotspur this summer following the expiration of his contract, ending a five-year spell in North London.

The Spaniard endured a mixed spell at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which included loan spells at Atletico Madrid, Manchester United and Brentford.

Reguilon is now looking for his next adventure, and his next destination could see him remain in England.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

Everton interested in Reguilon as left-back offered to Italian clubs

Everton are one of the clubs interested in bringing in the former Sevilla defender.

Caught Offside (14 July) are reporting that the Toffees, alongside Bournemouth and West Ham United, are showing an interest in keeping Reguilon in England next season.

Reguilon has been offered to Serie A giants Juventus and AC Milan, although neither club have committed to completing a deal as of yet.

Milan look the more likely to try and bring the Spaniard to Italy, having seen Theo Hernandez leave for Al-Hilal.

West Ham are showing the most interest among the Premier League sides so far, as they look to continue their rebuild this summer.

However, their deal for El Hadji Malick Diouf could rule them out of the race, as Reguilon is remaining patient as he looks for first-team football guarantees.

Reguilon deal can’t go wrong for the Friedkin Group

Everton need a left-back this summer, with Vitaliy Mykolenko the only recognised left-sided defender in the Toffees squad for next season.

A deal for Reguilon – who has played 81 Premier League games – would be a win-win scenario for the Friedkin Group, even if this news does come as a surprise.

Should the ex-Real Madrid defender flop on Merseyside, Everton would be able to recoup a profit that can be used on a replacement.

If Reguilon can rediscover the form he had during his first season at Tottenham, he can provide a similar threat at both ends of the pitch to that of Mykolenko.

With the Toffees in a critical phase with the move to their new stadium, David Moyes needs smart backing, and Reguilon would be the perfect signing.
