Everton are now just two games away from shifting their focus fully onto the summer transfer window.
It has been a long season for Everton who are looking to send Goodison Park off on a high on the weekend against Southampton.
David Moyes has worked his magic on the squad which he inherited back in January from the previous regime.
However, a lot of work needs to be done to take the quality of the squad to a new level this summer.
Everton have a significant transfer budget set for the first time in a long while following the Friedkins’ takeover back in December.
Numerous players are still on course to leave Everton this summer with no new contract having been announced.
After meeting with the recruitment chiefs, Everton are looking to sign a new midfielder and there is one who they could now make a real push for.
Everton plotting move for Angel Gomes
Idrissa Gana Gueye is still yet to sign a new Everton contract and Abdoulaye Doucoure remains another potential departure.

Big changes could be set for the Toffees this summer but Everton are showing interest in Angel Gomes.
According to GiveMeSport, the Toffees are now preparing their move for the free agent who is eyeing a return to England.
It is not just the Blues who are in the race to land the England international, though.
Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United are both keen to sign Gomes who is set to leave Lille this summer at the end of his deal.
The report even claims Moyes has approved the possible move for Gomes with the Scot a big admirer of the 24-year-old.
Gomes is demanding more than £100k-per-week to make a move this summer as he will not require a transfer fee.
Everton do already pay some of their players more than that figure, but it would be right at the top end of their budget.
Everton must go all out for Angel Gomes
This could be a real coup for Everton if they were able to land the England international.
James Garner has come under criticism in recent months from some Everton fans who feel there is a clear upgrade needed in that position.
Gomes could be that player with the midfielder able to boast plenty of experience despite still having age on his side.
Speaking about the midfielder, former Everton man Lee Carsley had a lot of praise to lavish on the 24-year-old.
“Technically and tactically he is excellent and he’s a player people are going to be really excited to see,” he said whilst acting as the England interim manager.
This is a player who could help elevate the Everton midfield, but they are going to have to beat some serious competition to his signature.
