Tottenham Hotspur have been handed a significant boost in their attempts to fight off competition for the signing of Kyle Walker-Peters as the Southampton star has indicated that he is interested in sealing a return to Hotspur Way ahead of next season, GIVEMESPORT sources have revealed.

Although Spurs have agreed a £5million deal to recruit Japanese central defender Kota Takai from Kawasaki Frontale, with technical director Johan Lange leading the recruitment drive, head coach Thomas Frank is aiming to bring in further reinforcements as he seeks to make his mark after being appointed as Ange Postecoglou's successor.

Kevin Danso and Mathys Tel have become permanent members of the squad following productive loan spells, with the latter joining for £30million after falling down the pecking order at Bayern Munich, and Walker-Peters could be handed the opportunity to become a teammate in the coming days.

Walker-Peters Shows Interest in Spurs Return

Right-back plotting next move as he prepares for fresh challenge

Walker-Peters wants to rejoin Tottenham as a free agent, according to GMS sources, after his experience and status have resulted in him being earmarked as an intriguing option by key figures behind the scenes as he prepares to embark on a fresh challenge following Southampton's relegation to the Championship.

The right-back has been weighing up his options ahead of his Saints contract - which allows him to pocket £20,000-per-week - expiring at the end of the month, and a move back to familiar surroundings has emerged as a serious possibility as Spurs have been among the sides prepared to offer a quickfire return to the Premier League.

GMS sources have been informed that Tottenham have made enquiries over Walker-Peters' preferences, despite him being unable to spearhead Southampton towards top flight safety during the 2024/25 campaign, and he has shown interest in becoming the latest addition to Frank's squad.

The 28-year-old, who has been described as 'extraordinary' by newly-appointed Sheffield United boss Ruben Selles, would provide the likes of Pedro Porro and Djed Spence with fresh competition for a regular starting berth if he opts to sign on the dotted line with the north Londoners.

West Ham United have chosen not to pursue Walker-Peters despite being among the sides to have kept tabs on his situation as he prepares to walk away from the south coast, GMS sources have learned, leaving the door ajar for Tottenham to pounce as Frank aims to freshen up the squad he inherited from Postecoglou.

Walker-Peters Still Boasts Alternative Options

Frank facing competition from Premier League counterparts

GMS sources have been told that Fulham and Crystal Palace have also reached out to Walker-Peters' representatives to register their interest as they continue their search for a new right-sided defender, highlighting that Tottenham are still facing competition for his signature even though they have turned his head.

Spurs allowed the two-cap England international to complete a £12million permanent switch to Southampton in August 2020, following an initial loan spell, but he has been earmarked by Frank and members of the recruitment department as a bargain option thanks to his Premier League experience.

Walker-Peters has not made it clear whether he would be prepared to pen a deal at Fulham or Crystal Palace at this stage, GMS sources understand, resulting in Tottenham being confident that they are at the front of the queue to secure his services during the early stages of the summer transfer window.

GMS sources recently revealed that Spurs are keen to win the race for Evann Guessand, who is waiting for a Premier League offer to land after setting his sights on leaving Nice, but the capital club are also in the market for defensive reinforcements as Frank aims to build on the Europa League glory under Postecoglou last month.
