Tottenham Hotspur could still opt to replace Ange Postecoglou in the coming weeks despite Europa League success, Ben Jacobs has exclusively told GIVEMESPORT - and Brentford boss Thomas Frank is emerging as a contender to come into the north London throne should the Australian gaffer depart.
Tottenham's poor domestic campaign has seen Postecoglou come under serious pressure in his job, with 22 losses in just 38 games in the Premier League marking their worst-ever campaign in the competition. Success elsewhere has saved his skin for now, but Brentford boss Frank has become an option and the cost of his contract has also been revealed.
Jacobs: Frank 'Emerging as Contender' for Tottenham Job
A hefty release clause could rule Tottenham out of the move, however
GIVEMESPORT's senior football correspondent, Ben Jacobs, exclusively wrote that Tottenham are unlikely to make an announcement on Postecoglou's future before he goes on holiday after the end of the season.
However, Frank is emerging as a contender to replace the Australian gaffer if Daniel Levy does decide to make an alteration to their managerial ranks, and that could throw a spanner into the works for Brentford who are hoping to keep their gaffer after yet another top-half Premier League finish this season.
Levy is still deciding whether to part ways with Postecoglou, despite the former Celtic boss winning Spurs' first trophy in 17 years via the Europa League last week - ending their silverware drought, though a 17th-placed finish in the Premier League has somewhat nullified their efforts on the continental scene.
Frank's release clause in his Brentford contract stands at around £9million, which would be one of the highest release clauses for a manager in history if it was to be activated - and a major reason for the club liking him is his long-standing relationship with Tottenham technical director, Johan Lange.
Their returning consultant, Fabio Paratici, may also have an influence over Postecoglou's future, though any potential candidates to replace him are unknown on the Italian's behalf if they wish to make a change.
GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Thomas Frank has won 132 of his 317 games in charge of Brentford.
With Frank having excelled in west London for the past seven seasons, marking Brentford's first four-year stretch in the top-flight in over 90 years, it's clear that he'd be a suitable candidate in European football across the capital.
