Brentford striker Yoanne Wissa would prefer to join Tottenham Hotspur over Newcastle United this summer, according to talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook.
Spurs are keen to strengthen their attack this summer for new manager Thomas Frank, and have already been able to bring in Mohammed Kudus from West Ham while a deal for Morgan Gibbs-White is stalling due to legal action, despite the club being willing to pay his £60m release clause.
A striker has also emerged as something that the Lilywhites are keen to add to their squad, with Frank's former star man Wissa a target, but they have competition for his signature.
Wissa Prefers Tottenham Over Newcastle
Both clubs ready to make moves for £50m star
Wissa, who has been described as 'extraordinary', has emerged as a top target for several clubs in the Premier League this summer after netting 19 goals in 35 games during the 2024/25 season - making himself Brentford's top-scorer in the division in the process.
Those performances have seen the Bees slap a £50m price tag on his head to try and ward off interested parties, but Tottenham have already opened talks about a potential deal to reunite him with Frank, while Newcastle are also pushing to bring in the DR Congo international after pulling out of a deal to sign Hugo Ekitike.
However, while Newcastle are hoping to push ahead with a deal for the 28-year-old, it has now emerged that Wissa would prefer to move to north London with his former manager than join the Magpies.
That revelation will come as great news to Spurs, who already seemingly missed out on a deal for Bryan Mbeumo after he made it clear he only wanted to join Manchester United.
Frank is looking to put his stamp on the squad ahead of a Champions League campaign, while he is also keen to improve their Premier League standing after they finished 17th last season.
