Tottenham have wrapped up a deal for Marcos Senesi.

Tottenham Hotspur are moving aggressively to strengthen their squad, having all but sealed the signing of Andy Robertson from Liverpool.

Spurs have finalised the free agent signing of Robertson, with transfer news king Fabrizio Romano giving the ‘here we go’ confirmation in midweek. At 32, the former Liverpool star’s best years are behind him, but he’ll add crucial leadership, winning mentality and experience to a squad that narrowly avoided relegation under Roberto De Zerbi.

The North Londoners want to bolster their central defence amid the uncertain future of skipper Cristian Romero. In that regard, Marcos Senesi of Bournemouth has been on the club’s radar for months. The 29-year-old is leaving Bournemouth on a free transfer upon the expiration of his contract this summer.

Marcos Senesi had reached an agreement in principle to join Tottenham, provided they stayed in the top flight. And after De Zerbi guided the club to safety last weekend, there has been an update on Senesi’s potential move to Spurs.

Tottenham seal Marcos Senesi deal

According to Fabrizio Romano on X, Tottenham’s deal to sign Senesi is in place. The defender will be penning a four-year contract and joining De Zerbi’s side as a free agent soon.

Senesi spent four years at Bournemouth after arriving from Eredivisie side Feyenoord in 2022. The Argentina international has earned a reputation as a technically secure and rock-solid defender. He played a pivotal role in the Cherries enjoying a strong 2025/26 campaign and finishing sixth in the table, qualifying for the Europa League in the process.

De Zerbi is very well aware that he needs bigger characters and leaders in the dressing room, and as such, his club has just wrapped up the arrival of Senesi. At 29, Senesi is in the prime stages of his career and could walk straight into De Zerbi’s starting XI. However, being left-footed, the South American is perhaps viewed as a back-up to Micky van de Ven, who generally operates as a left-sided centre-back for Spurs.

The ex-Bournemouth star will elevate Tottenham’s defensive ranks, whilst adding much-needed quality depth. His top-flight experience at the Vitality Stadium makes Senesi a reliable acquisition for the North Londoners. Despite performing so consistently for the Cherries this season, it is a shock to see Senesi miss out on the Argentina squad for the World Cup.

Nonetheless, the defender will get a full summer’s rest, allowing him to switch off completely, recharge his batteries and report to pre-season training in July fully fresh.
