Tottenham Hotspur are considering a move for Inter Milan midfielder Davide Frattesi, according to reports in Italy.
The midfielder made a name for himself in the 2024-25 season as he scored an extra-time winner for Inter in a thrilling Champions League semi-final triumph over Barcelona.
However, he has been unable to kick on from that moment as he was benched for the final, which Paris Saint-Germain won 5-0.
This campaign he has started just nine games in all competitions and failed to register a goal. Three of those starts came in Serie A as Inter won the title.
The Italian giants are happy to sell Frattesi this summer following a poor season while the player himself is open for a new challenge with several clubs showing an interest.
Tottenham eye move for Davide Frattesi
According to FC Inter News, Spurs are considering a move for the midfielder. Inter will look for around £21.5m to sell the player.
Most of the interest in the 26-year-old comes from Serie A. Atalanta, AS Roma and Juventus are all positioning themselves to begin talks, which could commence in the next few days.
With Italian clubs ready to make their moves, Tottenham will need to act swiftly to avoid missing out on 'one of the best players in Europe'.
Roberto De Zerbi is keen to bolster his options in midfield, with Brighton and Hove Albion star Carlos Baleba emerging as a target for the North London club in recent days.
Tottenham's previously-perilous Premier League position made it difficult to plan ahead for the summer window but following the club's survival they can now get to work on trying to sign their top targets.
Davide Fratessi should only be signed as a back-up option at Tottenham
Fratessi has spent his entire professional career in Italy. He was in the academy systems at Lazio and Roma before joining Sassuolo.
He had a series of loan spells before making the temporary switch to Inter in 2023. A year later he signed a four-year contract to join the club permanently.
He is described as a player who can do the 'dirty work' in midfield. Nottingham Forest made an attempt to sign him in January but they do not appear keen to revisit their interest.
The City Ground outfit face a tough battle to keep hold of Elliot Anderson, who is the subject of strong interest from Manchester United and Manchester City.
For Tottenham, if they want to get back challenging at the right end of the table, Fratessi would likely only be good enough as a squad option given his lack of game-time this season.
