It’s been a few weeks at Nottingham Forest with Nuno Espirito Santo’s future coming under scrutiny.
It came to light last month that Nuno had a falling out with Edu and that’s fractured his relationship with Evangelos Marinakis.
“I always had a very good relationship with the owner, last season was very close, this season, not so well,” Nuno explained before the Crystal Palace game.
“No, it’s not [good]. I don’t know exactly, but I’m being honest with you. I cannot say that is the same, because it’s not the same. The reason behind it, I don’t know.”
That sparked rumours that Marinakis would sack Nuno and replace him with former Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou.
Now, Fabrizio Romano has dropped an update on the future of Postecoglou.
Nottingham Forest fans remain in limbo as there has been no official confirmation that Nuno will remain in charge.
However, speaking last week, Marinakis did somewhat pour cold water over the rumours that the Portuguese head coach could leave.
MORE FOREST STORIES
“I’m going to London today and over the weekend we will meet each other and I don’t see any problem whatsoever.
“We’re all together and united, we’ll take some corrective actions and everything will be smooth.”
There has been an update on Postecoglou’s situation, though, which suggests Forest aren’t considering hiring him, as Romano reports that the former Spurs boss is being lined up by Bayer Leverkusen and Fenerbahce.
Crucially, there is no mention of Forest.
Simon Jordan reckons Nuno's career at Nottingham Forest will be cut short
Speaking on talkSPORT, Simon Jordan reckons Nuno's decision to make his concerns public has only shortened his career at the City Ground.
"The one thing you can say about Marinakis is he’s committed to the well-being of his football club," Jordan said.
“However he achieves it, he will spend money, he will push the orthodoxy, he will challenge his system,
he will fight his corner, he will not conform to what people think of the noise.
“So all of that tells you that you’ve got an owner that’s committed. It also tells you that perhaps be mindful of it. You (Espirito Santo) want to have a fight with Maranakis, have it in private.
“Don’t have it in the media. You didn’t win this fight. You didn’t get Maranakis to suddenly magic up some players and give you the support that he wanted because he saw you wittering on in some press conference or a bunch of gurning journalists.
“He was going to do that anyway. All you did was shorten your career span at Nottingham Forest.”
