Tottenham Hotspur are exploring a move to sign a new striker as they look to add two new wingers to Roberto De Zerbi's squad, according to Fabrizio Romano.
After a busy start to the summer transfer window which saw half-a-dozen new faces arrive at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, it has been less simple to get attacking additions through the door.
Spurs know two of their key targets for the attack in Manchester City winger Savinho and Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo, but they are yet to make any breakthrough to bring either player to north London.
As things stand, City are yet to secure the replacement they want for the Brazilian before giving the green light to an exit, while the Merseyside outfit's current stance is that Gakpo isn't for sale, as they also look to add to their frontline.
Liverpool are looking at a double swoop on Paris Saint-Germain for Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye, and if they were to finalise both deals then they could be more open to an exit for the Netherlands international, with the player said to be keen to join.
Tottenham are also being linked with strikers too, including:
Omar Marmoush
Victor Osimhen
Benjamin Sesko
Folarin Balogun
Nicolas Jackson
Any move may depend on Richarlison leaving the club, but it is a deal that at least appears to be in the thinking of club chiefs.
Romano: Tottenham Exploring Striker Opportunities
With Richarlison and Dominic Solanke currently in the squad, there is probably no room for another striker, but of course the situation could change.
Tottenham already held talks with Man City over Omar Marmoush earlier this summer, and Romano has issued an update on the situation when speaking on GIVEMESPORT's Market Madness Podcast on Thursday.
The Italian journalist said that while Spurs' main focus is on signing two wingers for De Zerbi, they are exploring striker opportunities too.
He said: "This depends on the opportunities because, for example, they had conversations with Manchester City about Omar Marmoush at the beginning of the window. Then obviously, City don't want to lose too many players.
"Also, it's not easy to find strikers on the market. So, if you let Omar Marmoush go, then to find another striker at Manchester City level. Okay, they have Erling Haaland, but finding a proper back-up is not easy. That's the point.
"It's not easy to find top strikers on the market. Tottenham at the moment, according to my information, are completely focused on the wingers. So wingers are the top, top priority, and they will sign two.
"Then, if they have the budget and a good opportunity to sign a striker, we will see. But at the moment, the focus remains on wingers."
Cristian Romero Agrees Terms to Leave Tottenham
Tottenham received a recent shock enquiry for their captain Cristian Romero from arch-rivals Arsenal, which was immediately rejected, with the club preferring to sell him to a club abroad instead.
Now, GMS sources have revealed that the Argentina international has agreed terms to join Atletico Madrid, with the LaLiga giants now needing to find an agreement on a fee with Spurs.
The north London outfit are willing to let their skipper leave after signing Jan Paul van Hecke and Marcos Senesi, while Micky van de Ven is expected to sign a new long-term contract with the club imminently.
