Fabrizio Romano has revealed what he has heard from his sources regarding the future of Heung-min Son, and he has shed light on how Ange Postecoglou’s departure has affected the South Korean’s chances of staying at Tottenham.
Based on the sentiment on social media, it appears that many Tottenham Hotspur fans have already resigned themselves to the prospect of Son leaving the club.
For many, the confirmation about the forward’s future came as a result of what Thomas Frank said in his first interview as Tottenham boss, or rather more precisely, what the Dane did not say.
Frank did not mention Son among the players he is looking forward to working with, instead naming Dominic Solanke, Rodrigo Bentancur and James Maddison as the senior Tottenham stars who he is excited to manage.
The 51-year-old’s statement comes amidst heavy speculation that Saudi Pro League clubs are ready to spend big on Son, who is now in the final year of his Tottenham deal.

However, Romano believes that Tottenham fans should not lose hope of the club legend remaining at the club just yet, explaining that the Lilywhites have not made a final decision on the forward’s future.
Interestingly, the Italian transfer expert claimed that Son was guaranteed to stay at Spurs had Postecoglou not been sacked, but his future will be finalised after the 32-year-old has a conversation with Thomas Frank.

When asked about Son’s future, Romano said on GiveMeSport’s YouTube channel: “Still, nothing is decided on the future of Heung-min Son, especially on the player’s side. Son has to speak with Thomas Frank, and then make a decision.
“If Ange Postecoglou remained Tottenham manager, Son was always going to stay at Tottenham. There is strong interest in the player from Saudi.”

Whether or not Spurs have finalised their decision on their captain’s future, it seems implausible that Frank would not have discussed the forward’s situation with the Tottenham recruitment department.
Reports indicate that Frank has already detailed his priority transfer targets to Spurs since joining, and that decision could only have been made with clarity on whether Son would stay at the club.
